As for what I feel....I just pray it won't suck like most game-based movies.

It won't take place in Doom 3, but rather the Doom universe, making it rather seperate from all the games. I'm still guessing it takes place on Mars, or somewhere near Mars, like Phobos. Or evenly remotel possible, Earth (I hope not XD)

I'm probably gonna expect this as an action/horror hybrid since err....Doom 3 had some of its scary moments, but had action at the same time (probably gonna be swimming in ammo like Doom 3 )

But still, I pray it si not teh sux. Hopefully the demons in CG will look better and not rather....blocky like in Doom 3 o_O
Well, either that or they put people in Imp suits and have CG fireballs XD

Hasn't a Doom movie been in "production" as long as Duke Nukem Forever? If not longer?

the rights were licensed but it was never really in production

Meh...99.9% of me says it will suck. The other .1% says I'll disagree just to be rebelious. Does the "DOOM universe" even have a story to it?

So yea, I think it will suck. But hey, I could be wrong!

Actually they are in post-production for the movie as we speak. They are developing a script for the movie first and the movie is DEFINATELY going to be rated R(There is no way they can get out of that).

For more information on this movie you should visit this link.

Make sure you read all the forum posts aswell for more info.

Let me be the first to put $20 on "Total Suckage", and an extra $10 that someone will reus that picture esuna made for the AvP Sucks thread to express his hatred of the director.

Seriously: Super Mario Bros, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, Wing Commander, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2 (pessemistic guess), House of the Dead, Tomb Raider (all of them), AvP (sorta, was a comic first...), Final Fantasy, Double Dragon, Street Fighter (thnx Scinet)...

I mean, seriously, I've lost all hope for ever seeing a decent video-game->movie transition. Too bad too, I so know that I could pull off Metroid (and HHGttG, but thats neither here nor there) if I could only get the license and a buch of money... At least I couldn't do any worse than John Woo...

I pray that doesn't make its way into the movie. Maybe a slight cameo appearance of the Doom comic, but please, not the phrase!

it will probably sell for the same reason tomb raider sold. the game. however, it'll be a pleasant surprise if whoever is working on the film manages to provide at least a compelling storyline and decent action/horror. chances are, it will suck.

    suck. suck. suck.

FF:spirits within was a decent movie btw... the animation at least, was brilliant (from what i've heard).

Just noticed skulk dissing the Final Fantasy movie. Sorry but I liked that enough to buy the DVD so there

I don't see what's wrong with it as a film. I think people were expecting the usual fantasy + sci-fi elements stuff with chocobos and took a lil hissy fit when it turned out to be a full blown sci-fi. Normally stuff like that would annoy me too but pffff... it's not like the FF series is known for having a continuous story and aside from the usual 'signature inclusions' like chocobos, cid and the like they're all pretty different from each other in almost every way.

As for the doom film... well it's not like I'm into doom's story enough to be too bothered about the way they'll probably twist things so as long as it's a half decent action movie I might actually enjoy it o.O

Bah. The plot had less brains than the zombies, and was more full of holes than the aforementioned zombies after repeated high velocity lead injections. I went in hoping for a decent zombie flick, and got out hoping I wouldn't have gone to see it.

And hey, Skulkbait forgot Street Fighter, which was so awful it hurt.

anyway i hope they make it more of a sci-fi thriller/horror mixed with action rather than just mindless shooting n stuff.

i loved the scary buildup in event horizon, it was super creepy

The Final Fantasy movie had great animation (Doom 3 kinda looks like it), but the plot was fluffy garbage, the usual Final Fantasy deal about Gaia and all that hippie crap. It did NOT mesh well with the science-fiction setting. Shooting ghosts with lasers is just ridiculous, and they looked pretty funny as well, like something out of Parasite Eve. I was cracking up when the old guy said "It's warm!" in the end. And even though it was great quality, it was nothing Blizzard couldn't match.

Oh yea, and Resident Evil sucked. It wasn't scary, there was no suspense, I already knew the story because my zombified friends had been trying to get me to give that pile of crap Resident Evil "one more chance" by telling me the supposedly interesting story.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within's animation was excellent. I actually thought the old man and the squad leader were real for a second.
However, it wasn't supposed to be based on Final Fantasy games, was it?

I liked Resident evil and FF. And people won't go to see this one for the same reason as Tomb Raider unless angelina jolee is starring in it .

however I don't have much hope for this movie, as said the doom universe doesn't really have much of a story behind it; it'll probably be another hellboy.

edit: I liked mortal kombat in the way I like total recall, not in the way that I thought it was good.

Yes, it was in production by Warner Bros, but due to the contract that 'The project must be worked on' but Warner Bros didn't do nothing with it for over 14-18 months so doom took back the project/liscensing.

I forgot who has the liscensing now.

To be honest, I actually saw it twice (due to circumstances beyond my control) and thought it was only moderitly bad. But in general it was considered pretty bad, and I can see why people wouldn't like it. I mean, I've liked some other pretty bad movies ("UHF" for instance) so I'm not the best meter for these sorts of things.

As for RE, well, I haven't actually seen it. I was turned off by the scene in the trailer where some woman bounces off a wall and kicks a dog in the head. It just scremed "I'm a bad action movie! Don't waste $7 on me!". But again, it was considerd bad by people I know who've seen it.
