<div class="IPBDescription">Convert a .dem for me?</div> Can anyone here convert a .dem to a .avi for me? I want to do a little demo of CSS, the physics, etc... for all the people who havent played it yet and only gotten screenies. If you can convert, post here with your email. My email is Red.Spark@gmail.com, and if you could find a host for the video as well that'd be great!!!!

    You could run it and then convert it using Full version of FRAPS. PM me.

    Unless GP's feature list was extended, I don't think it's got an .avi converter.

    Converting .dem to .avi is all manual, and it's a long process. Using Fraps would be best.

    The usual way people used to make movies using .dem files wasn't that complicated but it seemed lengthy. What you could do was use the startmovie command in the hl console with the demo file and it would play through the whole demo and make large images of the demo and put it in your hl folder. Then people would take those images and compile them together in one movie using some program I forgot.

    But yeah I think FRAPS does everything for you nowadays.

    Edit: Reminds me of grandpas going, "Youngin, when I was your age I used to walk to school through 10 miles of snow! SHEESH!"

    1.Make a Demo
    type "record demoname" to start in console and "stop" to stop recording

    2.Make the demo into .bmp files
    type "playdemo demoname ; startmovie moviename frameRate" in console

    3.Make them into videos
    Download Videomach.

    4.Get all your videos and make them into one and add music using the above program

    Then get videomach and your ready to go.

    Thanks bud, trying that now. So first I do the FRAPs part, then I can go to either option one or two to finish that (I'm probably gong to make a blink video) then upload it somewhere for people to download, right?

    Just make it a torrent Haze, then get 10 people on IRC to download then seed it. Find some reliable [purely legal] tracker, and you're set. Seriously, torrents are <i>good</i>. It'll work for something this size - too big to host on normal webspace, too small to split into 20 sections and upload to 20 different webspaces. So go torrent.
