Restart your computer and open BIOS. Try changing the primary harddrive from there. If that's not it and you haven't been playing with the jumpers on the hardware itself, I can't think of anything. Other than the harddrive simply being broken of course.

What I'd do if I were you:
Leave the computer alone. Buy a new harddrive (or get one that works in some other way). Install said harddrive. Make new harddrive primary through jumpers or BIOS (if your motherboard can do that, I know some can't override the jumpers). Re-install operating system on new harddrive and copy everything you want from the old harddrive(s) to the new one. Remove old harddrive or only use it to store data you won't miss if the drive dies.

I'm not much of a gambler though, and I have several files I doubt I'll be able to replace on my computer. Are you willing to risk losing everything?

im just gonna back up my things on the d: cuz im pretty sure that ones working fine, then make that my primary and wait to get the other one replaced, last time one of my hdd's cacked i was able to get it replaced, it was cool tho because it was a 60 har drive that broke and they sent back an 80 gig
