<div class="IPBDescription">Good hosting for cheap?</div> Yes, once again, frustration with Okta<b>gone</b> has come to a head and I'm permanently going to be removing my site from it as soon as I can find another option and afford the switchover. Can anyone here recommend a good reliable host with reasonable rates?

    Ah, of course. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Currently I have 6gb storage with 60gb transfer. I occasionally privately mirror files for a few friends and like to keep disk space available for large (and legal) transfers, as well as hosting my own level files. CPanel management is good, and it's gotta have the gamut of PHP and related things and so on and so forth. POP mail that actually works is good, anon FTP access... subdomains and stuff is not really necessary, but I might play around with a couple in the future.

    The NW guys also are keeping options open at this point, so any options with much greater bandwidth availability and storage as well as numerous e-mails and subdomains are also welcome. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    <a href='http://www.webhostingbuzz.com' target='_blank'>http://www.webhostingbuzz.com</a> is what I currently use.

    The package I have:
    2gb storage
    50gb transfer
    999 subdomains
    999 additional domains (additional domains use up a subdomain as well <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
    999 mysql databases
    cpanel management
    ftp access

    they only sell it by the year, which was $84 for this package (that's $7/mo). So far I only have a few minor complaints about their cpanel and ftp setup. But seeing as how this is the first place I've ever bought webspace from, I dunno if their setup is the norm.

    I wish I could afford something like that, because I'm sure it'd be better than the crap I have right now. :-\ I think my current plan is something like 10/11 per month, and anything up to about 20-25 should be within my range.

    Woah, would you actually use 6GB of storage?

    When I had my site, I used <a href='http://www.NeoServers.com' target='_blank'>Neo Servers</a>. I liked them a lot <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Well you have good stuff right now, and you want to switch for one reason or another so its kinda hard to find something thats that cheap. Most of this stuf is dang expensive.

    But I think I may have found what you're looking for: <a href='http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/MsHostingDeveloper;jsessionid=A0102A6B58384DDDDDFF18CBD601B98B.TC61b?__frame=_top' target='_blank'>Linkage</a>.

    Currently, I'm with <a href='http://www.fuitadnet.com' target='_blank'>FuitadNET</a>, and I absolutely love it. For your requirements, you should take the <a href='http://www.fuitadnet.com/gold_plan.php' target='_blank'>Gold Plan</a>, which gives you 8 GB of space, 65 GB of transfer, 500 FTP and POP accounts, 50 MySQL databases, and 25 subdomains.

    If you wouldn't mind, if you're going to sign up, could you use my referral URL? PM me for it. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I've been pretty happy with 1and1.

    Check out the developer package. About $20 a month.

    I got in for the free publicity stunt and hose cabewse.com there, and when it's over, I'm going to renew and get that package. It doesn't have cpanel, but a different thing that's basically the same. (1and1 controll Pannel)

    * Includes 5 domains at no additional cost
    * 4,000 MB web space
    * 1,000 POP3 accounts
    * 100 GB monthly transfer volume
    * 6 Virus Scanners included
    * 1&1 Chat
    * 200 subdomains
    * 3 MySQL databases
    * Free CGIs
    * Dedicated SSL certificate (QuickSSL Premium)
    * SSH Secure Shell
    * Linux based

    Dunno, this has only 4 gigs, and you said you had 6, so I dunno if it works for you...

    anyway, here's the link. <a href='http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/HostingDeveloper;jsessionid=DAD5D843C453970D56E6F9C4D54A5CB1.TC60b?__frame=_top' target='_blank'>http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/HostingDe...0b?__frame=_top</a>

    Actually, I'm helping a friend set up his web hosting service. It should be operational within the week. He's offering 1GB of space, 25GB/mo transfer for $10/mo.

    Apparently a year is going to run $100, with a free domain registration.
    Though if you need more space, I'm certain something could be worked out.
    Not to mention that he has no plans for long-term contracts (or fees for early cancellations).. it's pay by the month, semi-annual, or annually.

    I dont think this counts as a thread hijack but seen as were on the subject of hosting...
    I need a new hoast.
    Requirements...
    Full ASP and MS Access support
    250mb storage
    5GB+ bandwidth (Bandwith more important than space at the moment.
    Don't need emails, sub domains and other crap like that. Just 1 domain

    No more than £75 a year (Bowt $110) although as cheep as possible for a student would be nice.

    Preferably UK based, although USA or Europe should be fine (If they speak english)

    Ok KFS i found that looking on eBay was good for finding fairly decent hosting.
    I found <a href='http://www.liquidsix.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.liquidsix.com/</a> although there are loads of cheaper ones running on apache servers

    Holy crap thats expensive... their best package is half as good as the one CForrester recommended, which is $12.95 US/month. Theirs is ₤99.95, which is $180.36/month. So far the best seems to be either Them's or CForresters... interesting since with the way my ISP has been working lately I might need to get some cheap hosting (since my interweb has been down like half the day on average since they keep screwing with stuff).

    May be expensive but what do you expect. I need asp and MS access support because i cannot program PHP, yet...

    Any ideas on a decent asp host?
