<div class="IPBDescription">fun 4 yoo!!!1</div> Ok... So I just downloaded HI (<--<a href='http://www.hostileintent.org/' target='_blank'>Hostile Intent</a>).
I had some doubts about it, since I heard a lot of rants from these forums, but I was bored so I gave it a spin. And I loved it!

It's not really a pub game, because then it's just CS,
but from the rare teamplay rounds we had on pubs,
I declare this game to be immense fun.

So what do you get when you add a nice group of people
(hostileofftopic @ quakenet) and a fairly interesting game?
Fun! Whee!! You like fun!

So you dont really need to be good at this game.
You dont have to have any experience at all to be honest.
All you need is some decent communication skills
(something very rare and cherished to be found on the internet nowadays)
and preferrably a mic.

Norn can back me up on this one, cant you Norn?

    I guess i'll have to check it out. I thought Hostile Intent was a zombie mod or something... oh well.

    Also, does anybody else get really annoyed at marketing for games? "IN-GAME SCREENSHOTS". Wow, fascinating. What i want to see are bloody screenshots of what i will see in the game. INGAME. With the gun and HUD and everything, goddamnit. "Wow, see how pretty it is?" Yeah, thats great, im sure, but i want to know what the game will bloody be like when i play it. Grartgh.

    Remember when you were a kid, you played war with your friends.

    Well this kind of feels the same.

    The game is based on realism (oh the originality). So there's two teams.
    Nato and Tango (CTs and Ts). You choose from something like 5 weapons, and then
    attack if youre the Natos' (or defend if Tangos).
    There is no crosshair, and to shoot you have to aim down the sight (ala CoD), this is kind of hard to get used to but it works.

    I dunno... I just liked it.

    Its a good mod. Some of the maps are pretty rubbish but if you get some good teamwork going it can be really fun.

    Hmm. Looks good. I think I'll have to give this a try, I'm downloading it as we speak. I like the fact that you have to use the gun's sights to aim and not a crosshair.

    /EDIT: This is a HL (not HL2) mod right?

    Zig: And HL2 was due out September 30th. Once the new guns skins come out, hurrah, but until then a lot of them are ugly.

    Played the first version i think, goddamn it was boring! I just laid back, watched my teammates getting killed, then i sniped like their whole team from my lil hiding place :|

    you get about the same visibility by putting a box over your head and cutting out three eye holes.

    I found it boring and ridiculous, sorry. If any enemy catches me unawares then I'm going to fire straight away, regardless of the recoil, and not stand there for an hour waiting for my iron sights to rise.

    I also found it annoying and got bored after a while. Don't you have to shoot thru iron sights, or you can't shoot, then allyou do is go to ironsights and keep the run button held and go. Grenades you can't even see them, no explosion and boom 3 of your guys just walked into a explosion miles away.

    Meh. Its a bit glitchy, but fun nonetheless.

    It was the best when it came out and the animation sliding was horrible. People would go prone and move around and it was the funniest thing. They were just sliding every which way.

    When I get the chance to jump in for some HI, I find it to be great fun. It's the most advanced and realistic HL mod by far. Hell, they've even got shading if your video card can handle it.

    The main difficulty with HI is that they're using an outdated engine. The game will look amazing when it is ported to source.

    The iron sights look great, and are a nice touch. Oh yeah, I thought I'd mention something real quick...<b>there is no way you will ever fire an automatic weapon from the hip</b>. Not going to happen. You are going to raise that gun as quickly as possible.

    These days I prefer The Specialists over both NS:C and HI.

    Oh yeah, watch out for FF servers. They're worse than any other kind of FF server I've ever been on.

    Most of the time you just end up walking around the entire map with your ironsights up. It just makes you like.. 1/3 slower, but that doesnt matter, because if your caught with your ironsights DOWN, your SCREWED. No matter how cool they are, your going to get sick of looking at them. As well as numerous bugs at launch and some ugly models and maps, its not fun to look at or play. Plus you move like a snail thats super glued to a mollases covered surface. I'm sure you get my point.

    I applaud the Hostile Intent team for trying to make a "realistic" mod, but it falls short. Very, very, <b>very</b> short. I give it a score of one out of five.

    <span style='color:white'><b>Pro:</b> Might be a little fun to play with friends, ironsights are cool and new.</span>
    <span style='color:red'><b>Con:</b> Snail speed, ironsights need to be up to fire, too many bugs, ugly maps (as well as some being horridly designed) and models, not really "realistic" as everyone thought.</span>

    I'd tend to dissagree. While firing from a hip might be innaccurate at ranges, firing from the hip in close quarters is not all that difficult, especially with SMGs, as well as pistols, and automatic rifles are included, but they arent as easy.

    I like HI because it's going the ultra realism route, something normal FPS games can't do because they won't sell well. Unfortunately, real life involves a lots less TKing.

    Some maps for some unknown reason decide that the player models for both teams should be the same colour or look practically identical from a distance. Its very easy to accidently kill one of your team-mates. And it happens. Alot.

    Don't bother reading the Ha.ze review. It's mostly false, particularly with the "it's CS, but with" bit.

    The game hits realism as close as possible. It's difficult to get used to when you first start, but most of the bugs that plagued earlier versions have been eliminated.

    Without a doubt the mod needs some improvements. However, it is the best produced mod currently available for Half Life. Yes, it even beats out NS, mostly due to its extensive pushing of the HL engine by using "r_detailtextures" and "vg_glow," which allow map details like nothing you've ever seen before and the use of actual shading.

    I'm hoping that HI will port to Source as soon as it is possible.

    Probably ironsight and not being able to use it. I find it fun, cool and easy to use.

    Hip firing a pistol. I can just imagine the idiocy. And an SMG...I'm fairly sure you generally wouldn't be carrying an SMG so you could hip fire it. And an Assault Rifle...well....yeah. You go hip fire an Assault Rifle.
