<div class="IPBDescription">What's the plan?</div>Currently the func_weldables always look totaly soild, even if you can walk though them.  Does Flayra plan to leave them this way?

* walks out on to a ramp made of func_weldable, falls to death in chasm bellow *

As it is now it has limited applications.

    I figured this out last night at around midnight. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Basically you set the func_weldable to render in Texture mode, and you leave its FX Amount at 0 (or about 25 if you want to give the marines a hint that this area is weldable).  Then when the marine walks up to the weldable area and welds it shut, it changes the FX Amount to 255 so its visible and it makes it solid.

    It would be hilarious to have weldable hollow crates that one marine could stand inside and then welds "shut". Instant hiding spot <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Of course, this is totally pointless <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    yeah i thought you couldn't "break" a thing after it was sealed with the welder?

    If you set a func_weldable's strength to "-1" then it is invincible. Any other value gives it hitpoints of that quantity, similar to the strength of a func_breakable I assume.

    In other words, welds can be broken. The ones to break them will probably more often be the aliens, though.

    Will marines be able to reweld areas that they have already welded shut, but the aliens have destroyed them?

    is there any test maps that show how to use the weld?  it would be very helpful...

    Nope, you can't reweld something that has been broken. Sorry.

    why not? I can rebuild a card tower if it collapses. Just put the pieces back together.

    You could even make it last about 10x longer, since they have to weld together all the broken pieces.  <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    He meant to put a lot of boxes as a barricade somewhere, where you could weld them so they made the barricade impassable. Or something like that.

    I was thinking about putting weldable boxes and crates near blockades to make it look like the sets in the film Aliens, where there are barricades made from monitors and tables.  There were places where the aliens had broken through barriers, but the marines could weld them shut.  Hmmm, now there's an idea.

    that idea with teh crates would be cool, cuz then instead of the aliens ambushing the marines everytime, they marines could ambush the aliens
