Hey,

I was planning to buy a comp in the near future and i was wondering if these specs worked.

Mobo:
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum Socket 939
Processor:
AMD Athlon 64 FX-53 Box Socket 939
Memory:
Corsair TWINX1024-3200XLPRO PC3200, 400 MHz ( 2 x 512 )
GFX:
ATI x800 or Nvidia 6800

I'm worried the memory and motherboard aren't compatible since it isn't on the MSI motherboard list of approval(yet?). If you have other parts that would be better please post them. Budget isn't really much of a problem but i do want to have the same processor and 1 GB memory. It's build for Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 etc. so i thought Corsair would be pretty good.

If any of you could help me with this i would be very grateful.

You'll want to go with ATi if you want your games full with eyecandy.

Something about NVidia cutting corners and reducing visual quality without the end-user's permission to gain an FPS boost. Talesin knows more on the subject than probably everyone else in here.

I'm not so sure with the RAM though....what kind of RAM? DDR -SDRAM? SDRAM? Might want to check with the motherboard's manual to see what kinds of RAM fit the specifications.

Anything within the range of the manual's mentioned RAM should be compatible, regardless of brand.

I'll definetly go with ATI, mostly because i've had a couple Nvidia's in the past

But about the ram, could it cause incompatibility with the board? Any people who had the same setup with bad experiences here?

You shouldn't have any compatability problems with those components.
