I don't know about you, but I loved the Turok series, sure they got stale later in the series, but the first was a masterpiece. And the Extreme G series, my favorite racing series of all time. Anyone else love any of Acclaim's work?

Criterion Games make the Burnout series, not Acclaim.
I'm not sheding any tears; Turok was fun but the company hasn't produced quality for years.
[/Edit] It is sad to see a games company like this go out. Especially with companies like EA who produce the same old rubbish and make ten times what Acclaim ever did.
Ding dong the wicked Acclaim is dead!

According to New York Newsday, game publisher and developer Acclaim Entertainment has now ended the uncertainty over its fate by officially filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Central Islip, New York.
Acclaim listed assets of between $10 million and $50 million, and debt of more than $100 million in the filing. The company will now cease operating completely, and liquidate its assets in attempts to pay off the debt.
This final step comes after unsuccessful attempt to secure a $65 million loan in order to continue trading. The company's offices in Glen Cove, New York; Austin, Texas and Manchester, England closed late last week, with many employees locked out of offices and missing paychecks.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Sorry !
I'm just going through my Gamasutra newsletter.
Now (because of last few times) I try to spot articles that I can just copy/pate into a thread. Gamasutra seams to accept browsing from members only.
First interplay, Sierra is what up for sale or something to do with Vendius problem with finance, Acclaim is now gone, at this rate we will be down to EA, <b>EA</b>.

Impossible, because if it was just EA there would be a monopoly, and monopolies are illegal, so you see EA would have to split, thus the dawn of a new era in computer games publishing.
Edit: Ubi is still publishing some solid titles, too.

Erm, WRONG!
[/Edit]Abusing your powers as a monoply is illegal, not a monopoly itself.

I got taught in business studies last year becoming a monopoly in an already existing sector is illegal, where as filling a niche in the market and creating a new sector and monopolising that is not,
