Indeed he did-- he wasted one million dollars worth of taxpayer funded training. Honestly, couldn't they have installed him in a unit that didn't fly? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I am going to have to disagree on this point. I do not see how he wasted $1 million dollars. He did his job as a pilot and 4 years later was transferred to a non flying unit.

Training a pilot is costly however at the time there were no commitments you make that state you have to be a pilot for your entire term of service. If Bush was the only person to switch from a flying to nonflying role then I am a 15yr old Japanese girl.

Was George W. Bush a war hero? No. He never claimed such and also has made statements declaring Kerry's service more honorable than his own.

Why on Earth is this even an issue. If 35 years from now I have to worry that I missed a doctors appointment and it becomes a national issue I think my head would explode.

True, but based on his own statements, it seems like he went in that direction because it would be a cool thing to do (plus, chicks dig pilots).

It's not illegal, or rare, but it is a little selfish, if he went in planning on flying for fun and then waving goodbye the second his term of service was up.

But yes, that all of this garbage is an issue is a bit irritating.
