    With the obvious comparison to a vacuum cleaner, I think this is the first time that people running around saying 'the new sounds SUCK' will be perfectly accuracte.

    What's up with the bile bomb?

    We had hives dying, but no one cared because they were laughing so hard at the bile bombing going on in our hive. Gorges were playing catch.

    The thing is HUGE. It's gotta be a joke too, right? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I think every single playtester deserves repeated beatings with a stick for letting the jetpack sound pass. But then the same goes for me and the horrible spelling in the topic, so lets just call it even.

    Actually before Beta5 the acid rocket's model was also used for bile bomb, just for BB it was scaled to about double the size. When bile bomb was given its own model the scalar was accidently left in place, which is why it is now about the same size as the gorge who creates it. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    (FYI: The king-size BB is already logged as a note to bug #566 in Mantis.)

    The only thing I dont like about the new beta is the sg shoot anim, but not because the animation istself, but rather that there aren't any faces on the backside of the shotty so it looks awkward.

    I am just glad i backed up my original NS directory before running the update. While some orignal sounds are cool, some are also quite lame.

    I am going to add old beta sounds into my NS enhancement pack ASAP too to counteract this lameness.

    If it was a joke they should have had the option to select 1.x sounds or 3.x sounds in installation.

    Personally i think what the dev team did was stupid.

    After playing a full day of NS and hearing the JP sounds being compaired with everything ranging from a blowdryer, to a vaccume, a dust buster, a viberator, and an electric toothbrush; I get the feeling Flayra is already looking for new sound replacements for the JP. While people tended to get a bit picky at past sound readjustments in weapons like the new shotty sound, the lmg firing, ect. I've never seen people hate/insult how the new JP sounds so much.

    KEEP THE NEW BB!!!!

    I really like the big BB XD

    And quite personally, I think the new JP sounds rock! They sound more like doom to your hive now....which should be good enough to get your team heading back to the hive.

    I think the main problem is the jetpack sounds like it has a huge turbine for thrust when in fact when you look at the model it just has 2 little thrusters

    P.S. was that sound recorded from an actual vacuum?
  • ShazbotShazbot Join Date: 2003-03-05 Member: 14328Members
    I don't care if it sounds like a vacuum... i like it <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Also that shotgun animation rules, but the lmg sound is a little strange...

    All in all, you get used to the sounds really quick.

    TBH, I'm not annoyed by the sound itself. It's just too loud relative to the other sounds.

    sounds enough like a vacuum cleaner to me. what - did you all think that it shot fire? the new sound seems much more accurate, if you ask my opinion on the matter.

    (and yes, this was taken from the manual. so I'm not making it up)
