Should they be considered valid sources of information? I believe that most flashes are not made by people with any credibility. Not only that, but flash authors have their own biases, and are working by themselves. In a news channel/paper/whatever, there's a team of people trying (at the very least) a small amount to make the papers sound less biased. Also, multiple journalists may offer opposing points of view, and any bias they might have would cancel itself out. In a flash, this is not the case.

flash animations are usually well researched, unbiased, and never fail to state their sources. i wouldn't be surprised if CNN started showing flash animations in place of regular coverage on a daily basis, sometime in the future.
what a waste of a thread.

I'm not sure what flash animations you have been watching, but the majority are just showcases for the animators opinions or ideas, whether they be well researched or not, usually not. As for CNN using flashes...maybe, but they would hire people to work for them and they would be required to uphold the standards that any other news report would have.
This thread could be really good, provided you don't come back with such a **** attitude.

I cant say for sure, but I think cam0 was being sarcasitc....
Really now, the medium has no affect on the content other than how easy it is to create. I could do a technical demo of some Human-Computer Interface stuff if I wanted, and it would work reasonably well.
