Cant join half the games when i run from hl.exe-ns

for whatever reason i get a ! (with a yellow triangle around it) and it says i need to install Natural Selection before i play it, the funny thing is i was on the server last night... if i run it through HL.exe alone i dont get the problem only when the command to run the custom game -ns it happens...

This is what you do , erase the desktop short cut and either create a new short cut from your ns folder or start hl and goto custom games and start ns that way. Then , find a server , preferably one I will kick your ### on <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Or perhaps you should modify the shortcut to be correct no?

The problem is that the shortcut is missing the field "Start in" which is hence sending the game to search for modifications, maps, and the like in the default directory where the shortcut is located (the desktop.)  But since it can't find a few "filters" which leave out the half-life maps and such, it thus assumes it's a regular half life modification with HL levels and such.

Simply put:

R-Click on your short cut
Hit properties
If it hasn't been selected already, click on the "Shortcut" tab.
In the "Start In" window, put in the directory where Half Life is installed (NOT Natural Selection) (for example mine is set to: "C:\Games\Sierra\Half-Life\" without the quotes.)
