Read even if you don't
I found this VERY nifty plugin which now makes gimp IMO 100% better than Photoshop.
Whee

It removes the 5000000000000 windows that it spawns. Gimp seems to load a little slower (like two or three seconds), but I can live with that. Windows only afaik.

*Edit*

I love how half the time I copy paste it doesnt actually copy first......

I don't see how "DeepBurner Pro 1.1.1.129 Beta" is a Gimp plugin...

The GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. Think photoshop, but free and a bit more UNIXish.

The Gimp is an open source Image editing program.. Somewhat like Photoshop, but free and considered to be more powerful by most of the people that use it.. Its main drawback is that the windows version spawns 1000 different windows every time you use it..
I still don't understand why the link points to a CD burning program or how it would act as a plugin..

Edit: Skulkbait beat me too it =(

Check it again. Like I said in the edit, I hate when I copy paste and it doesnt copy...

If it didn't copy the first time, how did it end up having a link to a cd burning program? Or was that the original URL that you had on your clipboard? In any case, I'm too lazy to switch from photoshop, on the few occaisons I find any need to use it.

Cool. I'll definately need to link my coworkers to this one. Opening up 10000 windows is the #1 reason I never used the gimp for more than 30 seconds.

Indeed, that was the main annoyance for me as well. I'll have to check it out again now

Hmm, as attached as I am to my Adobe suite, we're really struggling for bitmap software at work (we're a charity, so the budget is nonexistant) and I'd totally forgotten about GIMP.

Does it have an easy installer now, does anyone know?

    It has windows precompiled binaries.

Er, it's still the same program no matter how many windows it opens. If you like it more than Photoshop, then good for you. If you don't, it's probably not because of the windows, but because of the features. I prefer Photoshop but that's probably just because I found it easier to learn since it follows standard Windows conventions a little more with mouse clicks and such.

Very nice plugin, thanks Now if only I could get those tools re-arranged in a sane fashion - the default layout is simply awkward. Actually, if you ask me, the whole GUI could use a complete overhaul.

It comes as a sourse document and needs to be compiled for install or some such gobbledy goop (which I don't know how to do), and that also doesn't give me the slightest inclination of how I am supposed to apply the mod. In addition, I really can't be DLing things that I don't know the aproximate file size of due to my ISP limitations, so I need that info as well.

    Gimp Installation for dummies:
    GTK+ 2 and Gimp
Go there install GTK, then GIMP, GTK is something GIMP needs to run.

For the plugin, maybe you should try reading the readme?

How am I supposed to read the readme, if the readme is zipped in with the file, and I am supposed to unzip the file into a directory I haven't created yet because I am going to be installing GIMP in a few seconds... Is it really so bad to answer yes and no questions with yesses and noes?

Tried opening the zip then double clicking the readme? Generally thats how you open every file on a computer, you double click them. Just because its zipped doesnt mean you have to extract it.
