Liberal is used as an insult because it seems that the majority of liberals are **** compared to the common real man. Take for instance the hippies during the Vietnam era. How cowardly is it to sit at home while your fellow Americans are dying daily, only to spit on them, call them baby killers...et cetera when they get home? Those LIBERALS should have been shot in the face.
The *majority* that i've seen and heard of appear to be weak minded, feeble, insignificant human beings by my standards. Just because someone deems homosexuality and **** marriage as bad, doesnt make them stupid, barbaric...anything that a liberal might call you.

Swift, I used the word "tend" in that statement, specifically as a description of the most active and spoken liberals. I'm not saying that every single one is, but having relatives that are from both extremes, I have seen my fair share of both sides. I came to the conclusion that most liberals are immature and elitistic from the attitudes conveyed towards my mother by her very left wing family for choices she made. My Uncle sneared at flags after September 11th. Not all of the left wing is like that, but a good portion of it is. A far larger portion than the conservatives.
Independents like to usually convince themselves that the liberals and conservatives are both on the same plane of thought and both act the same. They don't, typically. The ratio of stupid conservative to real conservative is quite large, on the real side. Probably 1:25.
The ratio of stupid liberal to real liberal is low, from my experience. Probably 1:2. I might be extreme here in the number section, but it's my personal experience.

I see your point Kent, and I probably should re-edit the numbers a bit, but whatever way you cut it, left wing activism carries a much larger gross looking brown stain than anything else the right wing activists have to offer. As I stated before, the moderates like to convince themselves that both parties play the same games the same way, which simply is not true.
Also, because liberals are made up of largely younger people, and conservatives largely older people, some of my points concerning the immaturity and elitism still stand, since those are largely "young person" traits.

From what I see, ideology seems to travel down family lines, with a few black sheep for good measure. Both parties in America, for example, have active youth clubs (those always remind me of nazism - shudder). It should be obvious on these forums anyway that there are a lot of young conservatives and liberals.
I think you may be getting carried away by the fact that liberal activists are both loud and opposed to your beliefs. Think of some conservative activists we can all hate on. Well Kent, the fact that the generalizations still stand in the world today tells you something. I'm not confused at all, particularly not about this issue.
My family is quite liberal and very educated. My uncle is an awesome guy, very intelligent, married to a French woman, and extremely left wing. I'd appreciate you not acting like I've misjudged my Uncle, because I have not.
I actually worked the Bush campaign in 2000, and never knew an obnoxious pro-Bush supporter, although I won't doubt that there are many that exist. I think the main issue is how much media coverage they get, as well as the activity level of those involved. Liberals tend to be far louder and more forceful.
Tend is the key word, once again.
I do hate on a lot of conservatives, actually, particularly militant pro-lifers, "*** bashers," and people that act like the 10 Commandments should be in every court house. While the Christian philosophy has some really great foundations for our culture to build on, using the government to force your morality onto someone else is coersion, and almost as bad as wealth redistribution.
Swift, I disagree with my numbers as well, but I've decided not to edit them out because they're fun ratios to look at. Ohhhhhh 1:25. Sexxay.

<!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
I have to disagree with your numbers, but I think that it is more due to the fact that so called 'stupid liberals' are increadibly vocal compared to your run of the mill 'stupid conservitive' but the fact of the matter for both sides unfortuneately, is that niether is generally represented publicly by thier smartest and most learned members. I am a liberal, but I can't help but beat my head against a wall when I hear other liberals saying stupid crap like "the US should pull out of Iraq right away"
Sexxay.
