Crackly background sound?

My background sound (like the music and ship noises) sounds crackly and is really annoying. All the other sounds (like alien sounds, gunfire, marine speech, etc) are fine. Is there any way to fix this, or turn off the background sound? I really don't want to turn it off, but it would be better to than have that crackling sound.

You I've noticed that to. But since the sounds played in the backgroud are installed on your system and played from your harddrive (not streamed from the server during play) I don't think it has to do with the ping issues.

But for some reason I think it is anyway.
