<div class="IPBDescription">Mirrored on doomaniac.com</div>I found my way to <a href='http://www.planetdoom.com/doom3/spmaps/' target='_blank'>PlanetDOOM's DOOM3 Maps</a> page, when I found this gem:
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--><b>Title:</b> D2MAP01 "Entryway"
<b>Author:</b> John "Hal9000" Schuch
<b>Description:</b>
A remake of Doom 2 map 01 with a futuristic feel. Given his history with gaming and maps that John has created for all types of games, this is a keeper. Grab it and be happy.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I grabbed it, and I must say it is well worth a look anyone who was a DOOM 2 fan. When I said I wanted doom1/2 maps in doom3, this is what I'm talking about. Mostly the map could be categoried as "inspired by" map01, rather than simply being a port. Which is good. The map follows the general layout of classic MAP01, but with an architecture, lighting style, enemy placement, and etc. that all follows the DOOM3 style.
Its not perfect, and could use some work in several areas, but I think it is definately a step in the right direction. If only we could see a remake of all of DOOM 1 and 2 in this style! /me drools
I thought so highly of this map I have chosen to <a href='http://doomaniac.com/stuff/DOOM3%20D2MAP01/hal_d3map_d2map01.zip' target='_blank'>mirror it on doomaniac.com</a> so none of you have to put up w/ the Fileplanet BS.
[edit]
Oh and if you have any problems getting it to run in doom3, type this in the console:
map game/d2map01/d2map01
[/edit]
Here are some shots I took:

Yes, yes, we know you suck at life. You don't have to harp on about it all the time!
Map looks tasty, downloading now.

You're just jelous that I use a superior editor that you can barley comprehend!
I R THE 1337357!!!
7 years of Worldcraft and 3 months of DoomEdit, and I'll never touch Hammer again if I can help it. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

But you're biased. Both ways. So they balance out.
BRAIN HURT!
Imagine making those levels with an editor that you click everything to get to the tools. It would take for ever.
Learn 10ish usefull hotkeys in radiant and you can do the same things in 1/2 the time or faster.
Then think the Doom 3 levels... Yea...
Keyboard pwns j00...
I remember that level.
There were buttons that controlled the lifts and some devils came down on them.
was jj <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
...but after a bit of a rummage at <a href='http://www.doomworld.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.doomworld.com/</a> (which is far superior to GSI's planetdoom; it's actually been operational for years), I can't find mention of it. Oh well.
Indeed you can <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Already played it, was okay, but not THAT great.
I still like the room in the midle of the corridor, with the woman screaming....was just great <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
EDIT : @SoulSkorpion : <a href='http://cdoom.d3files.com/index.php?page=news' target='_blank'>This one?</a>
Could be (tbh, I didn't read details when I found it the first time.)
If a faithful remake of the original does actually come out, I'll seriously consider buying Doom 3...

Yes, KFS showed me the light too.
I didn't like Radiant for quite a while, but once I got the hang of it- I'm never going back. This is quite possibly the most intuitive editor I've ever seen. I absolutely LOVE it. I just hope the few bugs it has gets worked out, cause they are quite annoying(what do you mean I can't naturalize the texture? Your gonna tell me its supposed to be 624395252x5292623?!). But man, I love 'em. Not to mention, the D3 in-editor-lighting thing is whicked cool.
...oh and Tycho, how's he biased?

If they bring out GTK Radiant for Doom 3 then I'll be happy as Larry, but at the moment the camera control makes me consider suicide. Plus Source's version of Hammer will be arriving soon, and all will be right with the world.
