(In airing order)

<a href='http://www.production-ig.co.jp/anime/windytale/' target='_blank'>Fuujin Monogatari [Windy Tales]</a> (Production I.G., Already airing)
There's just something about Production I.G. They always seem to produce these series, with that little bit extra... something. Windy Tales is no exception. It's shaping up, so far, to be a simple 'slice of life' drama. Which I quite enjoy, if you've ever watched Someday's Dreamers - Thing's Precious to a Mage you'll understand why. So simple and elegant, with no grand plot obstructions these series simply flow from start to finish. Add that to the unique art style Production I.G. have aimed for you have what is the beginnings of a very simply, very enjoyable series.
And of the story? Well.. what would you do if you could control the power of the wind (And not be a retarded Super-hero with it)?
Flying cats is what.
It does look like I will be enjoying this series, a LOT.
For I.G. can do no wrong.
Subbed by Deathsquad:

<a href='http://www.sunrise-inc.co.jp/my-hime/' target='_blank'>Mai-HiME [My HiME]</a> (Studio Sunrise, Airs 30th of September. 13 episodes)
Yeah yeah, Mai or My. However much of an arse you won't to be on the name game.
I could go either way on this series right now.
Basically 13 beautiful teen girls with mysterious powers battle monsters. I'm... bored with the whole fan-service genre in general to be honest, and unless Studio Sunrise bring an amazing story to the board. I'm not interested.
HiME is short for Highly-advanced Materialising Equipment. Swords, daggers, guns and what have you.

<a href='http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/vj/' target='_blank'>Viewtiful Joe</a> (Capcom, Airing 2nd of October. 52 episodes)
Viewtiful Joe. The Series. 'nuff said.

<a href='http://www.top2.jp/' target='_blank'>Top wo Nerae! 2 [Aim for the Top! 2, Gunbuster 2]</a> (Gainax, Airing 3rd of October. 6 episodes)
hmmmm how to describe this...
FLCL 2.
There you go.
Well... it's more than that really. Aim for the Top is something of a 'cult' thing for anime fans I suppose... most people will recall the original series as Gunbuster more than anything else. Basic premise, Girl wants to go into space and fight bad things in awesome mechs all the while with FLCL quaility animation.
<a href='http://www.top2.jp/asx/top2_tokuhou_high.asx' target='_blank'>I think I can manage a trailer for you.</a>
Yeah, you know you'll be watching this.

<a href='http://www.sunabozu.com/' target='_blank'>Sunabouzu</a> (GONZO, Airing 4th of October)
No idea... it's set in the desert, has gas masks.. um.. that's about all I know really.
Gonzo are producing, so that's 1 thing it has going for it thus far... other than that. I couldn't tell you.

<a href='http://www.kappanokaikata.com/' target='_blank'>Kappa no Kai-kata [How to Breed Kappas]</a> (No idea..., 4th of October)
Yeah I really hope the website scares you enough to never watch this. EVER. Kappa is a mythological Japanese creature. And it's looks just like a bald turtle...

<a href='http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/bleach/' target='_blank'>Bleach</a> (Studio Pierrot, Airs 5th of October)
There is a lot that can be said about the Bleach manga. It has this wonderful sense of style and form that not only etches itself into the character designs, but also finds it's way into the exceedingly well executed battle sequences. The basic basic basic premise, without spoiling the damn plot, is a young teen has the ability to see ghosts one day accidently inherits the powers of a Shinigami (The rough english equivilant would be The Grim Reaper) one night when a ghost attacks his family.
And the manga proceeds from there. A very well organised story structure, with both interesting characters and story arcs make this one of my all time favourite manga series. Now it is being made into an anime series, and I can only pray it doesn't get screwed over. Though I think it will be in good hands, as Studio Pierrot are doing the animation. They've produced several very successful series in the past such as Naruto, Flame of Recca and Urusei Yatsura. So they know how to handle both long running series as well as their respective fight sequences. So I'm quite sure it won't be screwed over. There are already character designs for some characters later in the manga, so I'm sure it will last at least 26-52 episodes.
My personal recommendation for the coming season.

<a href='http://www.beck.ne.jp/' target='_blank'>Beck</a> (Madhouse, Airs 6th of October)
A lot of people enjoy this manga, I've never read it personally.
A lot of people seem to say this will be an excellent series, I tend to agree with these people.
From what I can gather... guy goes to see his friend play in a rock and roll band, starts enjoying it, learns to play guitar, plot goes from there.
Madhouse aren't fools, so I'm sure this will be an excellent series.

<a href='http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime-zipang/' target='_blank'>Zipang</a> (Studio DEEN, Airs 7th of Octover)
A modern day Japanese Warship suddenly finds itself transported back to 1942.
Do they remain silent? Or do they fight and change the course of history.
Extremely promising premise. I would have sent the Warship back to the Middle Ages myself... but there you go.
Meant to be a very serious series. Never heard of the studio before, so we'll see.
The author of the manga this is based off has done 2 previous military style books. Silent Service and Eagle. He enjoys seeing the Japanese in higher seats of power than Americans (Eagle is the tale of the first Japanese-American President of the US) and Secret Service is about a Sub that defies the US... so I wonder if Zipang will screw around with the whole Hiroshima thing... hmmm interesting.

<a href='http://www.gundam-seed-d.net/' target='_blank'>Gundam SEED Destiny</a> (Studio Sunrise, Airs 8th of October)
IT'S A GUNDAM!
2nd season... urgh...

<a href='http://www.yakitate-japan.com/' target='_blank'>Yakitate Japan</a> (Studio Sunrise, Airs 12th of October.)
Ok, imagine bread.
Now imagine a series about making bread.
Yeah sounds like a real go-getter, doesn't it?
Suprisingly Yakite Japan is one of the more light-hearted refreshing series to come out of Japan for a long time. It never takes itself too seriously and is always good for a laugh. So if Afros, Solar Gauntlets and Bread so good it kills people is you're comedy slice. This is for you.
Produced by Studio Sunrise, famous for the never-ending Gundam Universe and a gigantic back catalogue of amazing series. This manga conversion will be well looked after.

I'll just nitpick and say that 'My Hime' literally translates to 'My Princess' (don't know why they don't use 'Ore no Hime' or something o_O;)

But other than that, I see a lot of new series and animes I haven't even seen o_O
    I am out of date!

You can't call it princess, because HiME is an abbreviation and more of a play on words.
  • RaVeRaVe Join Date: 2003-06-20 Member: 17538Members
My mistake for not noticing XD

BTW, I just checked the site (was in a rush cause I needed PLS) and saw the first character. It means 'Dance' in japanese AND chinese.

    Probably gonna involve dancing o_O
    NOES! BRAIN PAIN!

Fuujin Monogatari looks promising though....I'll admit that the concept art isn't my style, but it still looks promising.

So does Top no Nerae....dunno, maybe it's because I sorta liked FLCL....

One thing does bother me though...the Afroman in Yakitate Japan sort of looks like Sylvester Stalone....

Any news on when Disney will actually let <i>Nausicaa Of the Valley of the Wind </i>ship to stores? I heard it was fully redubbed, and they were just sitting on it.

From what I gather, the Region 1 release of Nausicaä is 'sometime 2005'

However if you don't want to wait
    <a href='http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=VWDZ-8006' target='_blank'>Region 2 edition with English subs</a>
Or you can wait for the Region 4, which will pronbably be out before the Region 1...

Might I also note, that Australia's anime supplier Madman licensed all of Studio Ghiblis movies DIRECTLY from Ghibli themselves?
Which means Australia doesn't have to put up with Disney's bulls***.
Laputa: Castles in the Sky, remains just that for the Aussie release. (In North America, the Region 1 release was changed to Castles in the Sky because Laputa meant w**** in Spanish and Disney didn't want to offend anyone... idiots)
All the Ghibli movies are going to be released in the same style packaging, so you can get an excellent collection happening. No word on a box as of yet though...
October sees the release of Laputa, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service and the re-release of Spirited Away (To match the Ghibli Collection packaging)

    Australia = win for anime

We get Voltron AND Astroboy on DVD before America~~~

    Bump for victory

I've discussed with Marike Steele via PM about the possibility of being able to post unlicensed anime series on the forums.
Tonight I am pleased to announce that this was approved by the administration team.

Please feel free to now link to unlicensed anime.

Shortly I will compile a gigantic list of unlicensed anime bitorrent links and post them in one, constantly updated thread for your enjoyment. Hopefull this will be stickied, but if not I'll just keep bumping it...

FOR THE TIME BEING, if you are unable to keep yourself from posting links to unlicensed series please only use links from Animesuki

This site contains links to only unlicensed series.

    <a href='http://v2.animesuki.com/licensed.php' target='_blank'>Licensed anime database 1</a>
    <a href='http://www.animeondvd.com/licenselist/' target='_blank'>Licensed anime database 2</a>

If you are STILL unsure whether or not a series is licensed before posting, please send me a PM and I will do the research for you.

Please note that if I catch anyone posting licensed anime, I will personally report them to the admin team.

Note that we mean it. This is as grey as the NS boards are going to become legally - posting of licensed subs will be prosecuted like all other warez linking (bannable offense). Do your research.

    Until then, anime! Wheeee!

just a quick clarification for future reference but what if a link posted later becomes licensed? Obviously not 'next second after its posted' which is a silly thing that'd never happen but over the course of days or weeks or months if the thread it's in is particularly lively?
Will the original poster have to keep tabs on it and baleet it when it's licensed, will the mods do that or are we just going on the ideal that the person hosting the link will probably take it down out of respect for the licenscees making it a dead link (which is common) =o

You can bet that the mods won't be able to keep tabs on it. It's as you point out yourself not a very likely situation, but I'd really appreciate if you'd keep an eye on your own links in such a case - but don't think we'll start suspending you if a link you posted six months ago suddenly becomes illegal <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Is GITS: Second GiG licensed?

And has the GITS: Innocense been fansubbed already?

Innocence certainly is licensed, as it's coming to North America soon (today?!). Second GIG I'm 90% sure it is.

Both seasons (1st & 2nd Gig) of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex were licensed before screening by Bandai Entertainment.

For this reason, 2nd Gig is listed under the GitS:SAC title (Making for 52 eps, rather than 26 of 1st Gig) in many licensing lists and is hard to find.

GitS:Innocence has been licensed by Go Fish Productions.

a.scarywater <i>sometimes</i> contains licensed series. So be VERY careful if you decide to link any further down than the top page.
