You know, I never could get into FCDL. Saw the first episode or two, but I couldn't get into the crazy-with-no-sense-whatsoever aspect of it. Also the children-having-sex undertones are more than a little bit creepy.
Can't really get into the giant-robot variety of anime either, with exception of course to Robotech/Macross...
I loved FLCL a lot due to some of the "WTH!" moments. I haven't finished but I'm enjoying Madlax and Noir along with DearS. I also just started Scryed.
Quick question
Is GITS: Stand Alone Complex the start of the series or so I have to watch something else before hand?
I didn't like trigun very much, only watched the first 10 or so eps and could'nt stand anymore, because vash is a big girls blouse <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Strangely enough, I can dissect FLCL to its fullest extent, and know more than I know now. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Yes I understand FLCL, and no it's not based on Japanese culture XD
EDIT : OMJ WTH Love Hina in place of GiTS?! NO WAY!
1. the obligatory Cowboy Bebop 2. Akira 3. Samurai Champloo 4. GitS 1st gig (I could just about understand this season, seems 2nd gig went out of its way to be intellectual which coupled with the subbing made it very hard to fully understand). 5. stumped here.. i quite like Nausicaa and mononoke they seem to be the more mature ghibli offerings.
NGE pales in comparison to this. Hellsing has action, thoughtful dialoge, characters you bond with (unlike NGE where you wish they'd all just die at near the end) oh and theres some politics in there as well.
Although I have to watch it with the English Dub, buecause it makes more sense to watch a series set in London and th UK with English accents. Because I'm quite sure, unless something has changed radically in the past year or so, that most of the people in London speak English.
Chobits (Can i ever stop mentioning this?) Samurai Champloo Grave Of The Fireflies One Piece Digi Charat
EDIT: NGE was great until they ruined all that fantastic action with a ridiculous plot, a pseudo-philosophical ending, and delving deep into characters you really couldn't give a **** about because they were all arseholes. That series should've ended about episode 13.

Who ever though Matrix was stolen off of Lain has not seen Dark City. Lain has nothing to do with Matrix (absoloutly nothing for that matter).
As for GitS:SAC: It is worth watching GitS First, just so that you have some amount of grounding in the universe (cyber brains, cyber bodies, some of the tech, etc)
I havn't seen much of GitS:SAC 2nd gig as only up to ep 13 has been fansubed (as far as I know), though it seems to be going along the same route that 1st gig did, with the same amount of polotics in it....
@Sonic: if thats why you don't like Trigun, watch some more, you just missed alot of the REALY fun stuff <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I havent really been able to buy alot of anime recently due to my wife and I getting a Gamecube, but the best of the best I've seen would be..(in no particular order)
1. Ranma 1/2 2. Now and Then, Here and There 3. Kenshin(up until the end of the Legend of Kyoto, all after that was really not memorable) including the OVA/movies 4. Escaflowne(sp?) 5. Basically every Studio Ghibli Release I have seen has been incredable, so I like to lump them together as an orgasmic artistic experiance.

can't believe anyone would consider Naruto or Ranma a 'best' anime. naruto is a little above par, but not really anywhere near something like YYH or Kenshin, and ranma was....ridiculous. i found the "humor" really annoying.
