Best Scene Ever

What is the absolute best scene/sequence from a movie/play/musical you have seen?

I'm torn between the part of Moulin Rouge when Ewan McGregor confronts Nicole Kidman during the performance, or when Dave Bowman shuts down HAL in 2001: A Space Oddyssey.

And, just to save all of us some time, no porn.

The ending of The Godfather, Part 3. He pretty much literally died of sadness. It was such a beautiful ending.

O Tetsuo's arm lashing out at the Colonel in Akira.
O Ripley emerging from the mist in the Powerloader in Aliens.
O Captain Miller dying on the bridge in Saving Private Ryan.

Tetsuo marching down the streets in the novelty Shreded Red Cape 'O Doom.

When Ques blow'd up in Chars Counter Attack.

The end sequence of Metropolis with the towers crubmling and the city pretty much in havoc.

The part in the Time Machine where the Traveller stops and looks up at the moon and it's all messed up, as well as the associated Travelling through time section immediately afterwards with the changing landscapes and such.

Cant really remember any other good scenes from movies. I'll rack my brains later on.

    I'm with KFS

edit: just to make sure I don't eat this and he changes it: The rohirrem charge at Minas Tirith in Return of the King, really moving. Another good one was when they charged down into Helms Deep. In fact, I'm just really proud of my Viking heritage.

Oh, I remember that. That was pretty neat.

Although, rembering the movie now I feel sorry for the guy holding on to the time traveller in the end. He was moving at normal speed. Imagine having your arm stuck in something, and being unable to move for severel days/weeks as you gradually waste away.

could you be a little more specific? lol

    My favs.

Best main character dying: When Leon dies in the apartment in the movie "Leon"

Most stylish gunfight: The Lobby scene in the origional "Matrix" the 1st time I saw that movie I was in action film heaven.

Best Sword fight: Shu Lien Yu vs Jiao Long Yu (were Shu Lien ends up using evey type of weapon imaginable lol)

Best western shootout: The end battle in the movie "Purgatory" All the great dead western legends opt to go to damn themselves tohell in order to save a town.

Best against the odds Battle: 300 Spartans. If anyone knows of the Battle of Thermopylae in real life, well you get the point.

Best last stand battle: The battle for Earth scene in the Babylon 5 movie "In the Beginning" Where the people and nations of Earth fully knowning they are about to get totally and utterly pwned all join forces for one last battle to try to give the Evac tranports time to escape. Its really moving in that everyone and everything from the various Space navies of the world to space Luxury Liners, small personal space craft and garbage haulers all come out to make a GIANT last stand in a battle they know everyone will die in.

Saddest movie scene: I dont cry at movies but "Titanic" No not leo and kate screw that. Best Sux 2 B U moment: Hmmm just because I recently saw it. That Umbrella Corp leader guy who gets thrown out of the helicopter at the end of the movie and ties to shoot himself but he has no more bullets in his gun dude. Resident Evil Apocalypse.

Best Oh look the famous world momument just died scene: Independence Day.

In the new "Dawn Of The Dead", when the black dude and the old white lady just start unloading onto each other and neither of em goes down for an EXTREMELY long time.

Or maybe the half-hour fistfight from "They Live" when they both just keep getting up from this massive beating. It never seems to end!

Both absolutely horribly done in almost every respect, but both so utterly enjoyable.

The final scene in Equilibrium, where the Prozium factories are exploding and the Resistance fighters are fighting the guards.

Or the final fight with Father. That room is amazing.

The end of Fight Club, where The Pixies - Where is my mind plays and Jack and Marla watch the skyscrapers collapse.
The Hallway scene in The Matrix, from when Neo stands up to when the Agents run off.
That part in The Usual Suspects where Agent Kujan realises that Verbal was Keyser Soze all along.
The near-final scene in The Matrix revolutions, the Super Burly Brawl where Neodammerung plays.
The end of The Thing, where Macready and that other dude are stuck in the remains of the shed.

    - LA Confidential; the end showdown.

    - Apocalypse Now; helicopter assault on the beach.

There's so many other films, but that'll do for now.

The last part of the last episode of Blackadder Goes Forth. It's just the way it's all funny and jokey, then the one guy goes "Sir... i don't want to die, sir" and my heart goes . Also the way Blackadder says "Good luck everyone." even though he's been a complete **** to most of them since he met them, it's like he really does care after all and only realises it a few moments before he's likely to die. And the way Darling gets dragged into it. Brilliant mix of comedy and utter sadness, fantastic writing.

Also, stupid one, but the intro sequence to Dawn Of War (download the demo just for that one sequence, if you haven't already). It's amazing.

The end of the Helms Deep siege in Two Towers where they ride out on horseback. <3

Also, i loved the battles at the end of Matrix Revolutions with the mechs. I'm a mech head at heart and seeing those little monkey-mechs fighting schools of flying Sentinels, it made the little mech inside of me jump for joy.

Under Siege 2, when Fatty Seagal falls off a cliff, another guy comes after him, only to find Fatty Seagal with a big smug grin on his face, looking like he's enjoying a pipe and a brandy halfway down a cliff, greeting him with "Hello!". I laughed so goddamn hard and i must've watched that over and over at least 20 times.
