I've been playing NS for about a couple months now and im fairly good at it, but i do haves this one prob evolving as and alien.. i cant do it. i get the credits needed to be a lerk or whatever, but i dont know if i need to follow a certin order. Like as a rine, you have to get weapon damage 1, then shotgun, then HMG. but for the aliens i dont know how to do it.

in beta 4a, and previous... you had to go gorge > lerk or gorge > fade > onos, now you can go strait to gorge (1 point) lerk (2 points) fade (3 points) or onos (4 points)

make sure you have a key bound to +popupmenu so you can select which life form you wish to evolve too

so no, in beta 5 evolving requires no preaquisites

Right click, move your cursor down into "lifeforms". The gorge will be on the right, and if you move down farther past "advanced" you can get to the lerk, fade, and onos evolutions. Click and evolve. That's it, no prerequisites. You can go straight from skulk to onos, die, get your points back and evolve to lerk for a while, die, go gorge and heal the hive, go xeno skulk for a while, etc.

Since beta 5, the only alien ability that requires a pre-requisted is Hive 3 ability.

Alright i got it now, it's strange though, i did that but gorge isnt on my pop-up menu so i had to bind "evolve to gorge" to a key, i was just wondering cause i had a feeling you had to be a gorge first, but for some reason it wasnt on the menu.

This generally occurs when you have a botched install of NS. Ie, if you've somehow copied files from nsb4 onto b5. For some reason. :S

Reinstalling will fix it, but your impulse work-around is fine.
