I'm still unclear about what this means in relation to when HL2 will be out, but it sure isn't helping D:

That's what they're good at. :P
From what I read valve seems to be a little FISHY to me. GLUB GLUB
Although sierra isnt much better by trying to force valve into working with them in the future as well. And the wheels turn!

Indeed. However I doubt they will be smart enough to figure it out.
Rubbish, the legal disputes have been going on since 2002. This won't delay the release of HL2 in the slightest.
/me looks at signature
/me looks at date
/me looks at pile of games

I was pointing out to Esuna that they now have both CS and DoD, not to mention CZ.

I agree it won't at all. Both Valve and Vivendi would have to be mental to delay HL2 for much longer or they'll lose all the holidy sales, and we all know its about the money in the long run for them anyways.
Vivindi has been in financial trouble for quite some time. Hell they're in the news practically quarterly about it. For awhile it was rumored that they were going to go bankrupt and/or sell off Blizzard or etc etc.

God forbid they make money. They only happened to make the SINGLE MOST POPULAR FPS OF ALL TIME WITH THE HIGHEST REVIEWS EVER, AS WELL AS THE MOST POPULAR MULTIPLAYER GAME IN HISTORY WITH A GOOD CHUNK OF THE WORLD'S POPULATION PLAYING IT AT ANYTIME. Oh yeah, they definately don't care about the community, despite the fact they keep putting in updates to a 6 year old game still meant for mod developers, as well as putting in a ton of stuff meant for its next game, not to mention liscensing for use a modelling program that probably cost them quite a few hundred thousand dollars, only for their mod development side, not to mention making one of the most ingenious systems ever(despite a bad startup). or maybe even supplying the addiction so many of us of these forumers have on a game about a mod on their 6 year old game their still funding.
God Forbid.
Albiet the original CD is broken (olo alcohol + microwave), I still have my CD-key~
PS Doug Lambardi is fat

Companies, no matter how much they care about their fans and the quality of their products, are always in it for the money in the end.
That's not Doug Lambardi. He's actually had some interviews put up online. An average sized guy.
Gabe Newell is who you're thinking of.
If you don't want to hand over the right to your work to a publisher, either find one that will let you keep those rights or go independent. But to bully and lie so that the publisher relinquishes them is, plainly, cow excrement.
And as for attitudes like <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Die leech, die!... I hate publishers, they take a big piece of the pie but what they do is the bit I couldn't care less about.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
The publishers <i>pay</i> for the whole goddamn pie! They're the ones who pay the salaries of the developers! They fund the games, they get the games to market. When you read about games these days having budgets on par with films, it's the publishers who foot the bill. They've got every right to a share in the profits.
Unless you believe that they should have to pour money into a game, then get nothing in return...?
