Problems Moving Mod To Work Under Steam

I know this isn't exactly what this forum is for but I've posted this a few places and no-one seems to want to answer me. I know NS had to go from WON to Steam and I was hoping that someone might know how to help me fix these problems.
I'm currently trying to move a mod from WON to Steam and I have three main problems:
1. The Keyboard binding menu is blank (As in doesn't even have "Jump" and "Forward, etc.) when you go into the options. I know I can just bind all my keys via the config file but I'd rather give out a mod that doesn't do that.
2. Sometimes the leaderboard doesn't appear when the button is pressed and sometimes it does. It usually doesn't appear the first time I start up a listen server...but it does the second time. I've not managed to test much past that so I don't know what happens when there is a change of map, etc.
3. The mod I'm working with can only have a maxplayer limit of 14 so in settings.scr I have specified that I only want the drop down box to say 14 and less. But by default it shows nothing...is there a way to specifiy in settings.scr what you want the maxplayers to be by default?
I hope someone can help me with these problems as I'm not having much luck on my own! :-/

I know there are a few forums out there that basicaly are havens for HL moders
