<div class="IPBDescription">Some question in my mind</div> Hi!

Does anyone of you know how the programmers of NS made it's soundtrack and the misc? It really sounds some sorta movie like! And I like it.
Was it made by themselves? Or is there any programme around where you can create some sorta songs (I mean some programmes like "e-jay" is for techno music etc.) If anyone can help me post it here. I'd be glad to know it.
keep it up!

    I'd hazard a guess that the music is made with some sort of <a href='http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=mod+tracker&btnG=Search&meta=' target='_blank'>Tracker</a>

    It's not a bad way to make music, all the Deus Ex music was made with a similar style program and it's some of the best I've ever heard.

    The music always seemed to remind me... a hellovalot actually... of the Loading music in Neverwinter Nights. In some ways its IDENTICAL. Anyone else noticed that too?

    <a href='http://www.modplug.com/' target='_blank'>ModPlug Tracker</a> is a good one. I've used it for a few things. The thing I've found is, that you have to be very commited or a quick learner, as the learning curve can be quite steep.

    If you want to dive right in, then something like Ejay or Acid (from Sonic Foundry) would be great.

    I've made some tunes in Acid and it's a great program, but trackers can give you a lot more freedom with the music.

    I'm very experienced in those programmes don't worry. *clicking on the website* Well I gonna download it and then I'm trying to create some nice NS ambience songs <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I'd use trackers to write my own music for forelisten (as I am a composer) but the thing that you can't have triplets with duplets together made me choose good ole midi.

    Be warned! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    edit: I too think that deus ex soundtrack is amazing. It fits perfectly well everywhere. I especially like the oceanlab part 2. Sorry for the ot <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->.
  • Lt.RealnessLt.Realness Join Date: 2004-03-17 Member: 27379Members
    Well I just downloaded it and I'm a bit confused. It looks like some sorta Mediaplayer..there are no samples to edit or something like that. I thought that it'd be like it is in e-jay. Can anyone help me plz? <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I'd recommend downloading some other people's music and see how they've done it. Also, there are no samples with the program, you have to find and use your own.

    Thats what I meant when I said Ejay or Acid are easier programs to get into, because you get samples with them and the interface is a simple drag and drop one.
  • Lt.RealnessLt.Realness Join Date: 2004-03-17 Member: 27379Members
    hmm okay. I'd be better with some samples but I still have many film music on my computer so hehe I think I gonna try it out!

    one more question
    Does anyone of you guys know how they made the radio messages?
    I've heard that they're planning to include female models in some of the next versions *happy* <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> and so I just asked myself how they'd find a resolution for it. Is there also a programme? Or do you think they just record 'em with a mike and edit them later on?
  • DaedalusDaedalus Join Date: 2003-04-02 Member: 15152Members
    As far as I know, they got professional voice actors to record the voices, notably some of the people that did voices for Starcraft.

    hmm that's a good advantage! The Starcraft voice actors are very good <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I used to try to write music for games etc...

    I used a format called .xm which was really good quality for the time (several years ago) but I think it's all true digital now (it was like midi++ back then)
