My Theorum On The Bermuda Triangle

about sinking of ships
I think it is gas/air pockets in the earth... they get released and there is a bubble effect that sink the ship primarily. now the are below the sea level because of the air "bubble" and that is what causes the "100ft waves".

I mean yeh these gas pockets would have to be HUGH but... there is always gas build up in the earth.

I've watched programs abou the sinking of ships and they said somethig about bubbles... that is what mine is based on but instead of lots of bubbles - it is one big "bubble"

This came to me when i was playing in the bath, bathtimes soo fun , I had a jug (to rinse my hair is you're wondering) and pushing it under the water (open end at the top) and saw that the water fills it in... and how it fills it in gave me my theorum. i'd draw pictures but I am just about to go out - so i may draw them up tomorrow.

What are your theorums? What do you think of mine?

However, on a more serious note, bubbles don't go down. They don't act like your jug did. They would more likely push the ship around rather than sink it if this were true. Bubbles push air upwards, causing the "bubble". As far as I know they don't create a situation as you did with your jug.

And listen to Wheeee, he speaks the truth.

thats why i tested with the jug upside down <_< submerged it and then let the air escape

I know i'm right! Just like in the movies! "We don't believe you! *POW* OMG YOU'RE RIGHT...

    ok... advice taken

Actually, statistically no more ships are sunk, or planes disapeared (?) in the bermuda trangle than any other similar area in the world. IIRC someone once did an experiment where they made up a new "bermuda triangle" on the other side of the atlantic, which was about the same size and was similar in several factors, mostly relating to air and sea traffic in the area. He then researched the area and found mysterious disapearences similar to those commonly atributed to the burmuda trianlge... wish I could find the link...

Anyway interesting idea but I don't think its what happens.

It's true the whole bermuda thing is now believed to be caused by leaking natural gas reserves, but it would go a bit far to say all of those are connected.
They are all around the globe and I think the suitable area of the earth's mantle for this gas is pretty thin. (unless it mixes with magma )

I don't think the Bermuda Triangle is anymore real than sea monsters and giant squids big enough to capsize ships. If anything is sinking the ships, it certainly has nothing to do with the triangular shape it causes on the earth, nor aliens, nor lochness monsters.

    Probably some unidentified scientific phenomenon.

Rotten.com's library is awesome. I can't believe I haven't read that article, thinks scinet.

rotten.com, WTH? that site is horrible.
I didn't know they had a "clean" section to it (clean = non-vomit-inducing)

Rotten.com is basically a political statement against censorship (read their FAQ). I doubt most people really enjoy the pictures on the site. Take a moment to browse through their library - most left wingers will love it. It's got great writing, well researched articles, and not the least hate mongering in it. I'm just disappointed that it's updated so rarely.

Yeah, most of the articles are well written, yet ultra hilarious even if the subject matter is serious. Sometimes there are factual errors though, like basically a greater part of the article concerning Slobodan Milosevic.

The most plausible theory for sinking in some places was an excess of sodium desposits that are in contact with seawater. This causes a massive release of hydrogen gas, and air bubbles in water reduce boyancy. That said, I too saw that thing with the Bermuda Triangle, where the guy made another Triangle off the coast of Spain or something and it had just as many dissapearences.

I saw a discovery channel thing on the bermuda triangle and they also stated that an extremely small amount of methane [which rises due to being lighter than air] causes engines to flame out and also makes the wings provide less lift, which could acount for planes being lost

It's the aliums!!! they take boats and planes to build there super subatomic nuclear bottle bubble earth super wave hitler gun! lol...

Bermooda triangle = who knows? GOD. Ask him when you die. lol

This theorem on methane is a bunch of crap. It is true that bubbles cause a suction on floating objects after they pop, because the empty space needs to be replaced by matter, but it would take ALOT of gas to sink a ship. Methane is also a rare chemical, and not much of it exists on earth.

As for the methane interfering with aircraft, It would never happen, because the methane would be so diluted by the time it rises to the same level that an airplane flies at, that it would be in almost nonexistant concentrations.

The answer to this probably has something to do with piracy for the ships. There are many governments that either look the other way or take bribes from drug lords and pirates in that area. As for the airplanes, its probably just a coincidence.

perhaps, in the 1700's when there were thousands of boats cruising around the carribbean, they didnt have weather sattelites. now isnt it possible for a hurricane to come up (as frequently as they are today) and it hits a few boats, but no one ever finds out because they didnt have radio transmissions? the boat never reached the destination, and no one knows why!

same could be said of pirates.
