Irq Conflicts

<div class="IPBDescription">Arf!! #$%#$ >_<</div> Alright. So my computer has the tendency to crash for the first few sessions, then work for hours.

I don't want to discuss that problem, I want to get rid of the IRQ conflict right now. To "solve" the problem, I tried resetting the IRQs in the BIOS. Bad idea. Windows 2000 now has 4 things on IRQ 7 (it didn't have any conflicts before!):

- 2x USB
- 1x Geforce 4 MX
- 1x AC97 driver

And, of course, audio doesn't work now. Winamp crashes if I want to open it. Yaaay. Haven't even tried running a game. It'll most likely crash as well.

Seems like there is no way for me to change the IRQs. If I wanted the thing to work on HAL, not ACPI, I'd have to reinstall Windows, which is not the preferred option at all.

I'm currently looking for my old SB card, but I'd rather just change the IRQs for now... Help! <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Hah, I thought the topic was about Iraq conflicts initially. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I have resolved the problem. The process included:

    30x+ Uninstalling/installing drivers
    6x Pulling out/putting in hardware
    30x+ Managing drivers
    60x Wanting to go mad and pull my hair out

    The result? Not only did everything stay on the same IRQ, but also the network card made itself comfortable on 7.

    I have learnt an important lesson from all of this:

    WTHOMGIRLBBQOLOKEKEKE11 I'm going insane, thank you very much. Over and out.

    Try reseting your cmos bios and reinstall windows. But of course only if nothing else helps.
