    Wow, I like very much <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Maybe you could add some more colored lighting around the core, give it a more "powerful" feel?

    The one thing I dislike the most about your core is those wires at the top... the look a bit too cluttered and messy... and not in a good way. If I were in your shoes, I'd either work on em a bit to get the messy feel out of them, or remove them altogether.

    Other than that, great work! The steam is a great addition. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    I agree, the wires do look a little TOO messy, and the texure around the top-middle makes it look like a garbage can to me... <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    Really cool except for the cluttered wires.
    I also think all those white lights on the walkway are too big and blocky, I dont like them.

    How to make that room look twice as good:

    Put a light in front of each monitor with brightness of 80 and a colour of the monitor it lights up.

    Do the same for the slanted monitors too.

    Now post a pic of it again <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    I wouldn't mind the wires being all jumbled up if the computer showed a bunch of battle damage from previous fights. It would make sense then. Great pics.

    Indeed! Plus, if the core were previously damaged, maybe it's become "insane" or something .... *cough*Shodan*cough* .... such possibilities.

    I agree with what everypone else has said, but i think theres a bit too much steam..maybe you couldnt use as many sprites, or increase (decrease?) the alpha on them. It just seems too 'white' to me.

    The only other thing I would add (beyond the advice others have given) is to make the monitors at the base of the mainframe core emit some kind of light, like a greenish glow from the screens. Unless the core is supposed to be offline....

    I think that I'm going to reiterate a previously mentioned point, and that is that the lights on the walkway just seem too forced, or something like that.  I'd suggesting putting, like, maybe a strip of lighting there, rather than the boxes you have now.  Also, it would make more sense to place it just underneath the grating rather than on top of it, so people won't accidentally step on and break the lights.

    Hmm... now the entire room looks a little too bright, then again this is in the marines area so I guess it's ok
  • Black_DogBlack_Dog Join Date: 2002-02-10 Member: 190Members
    I think now it looks VERY MUCH BETTER than the begin... btw i think this room will look even better just with some lightning work(this suppose u haven't brightnened the screens-the aim is reach more contrast):
    -work on the lights.rad file to have a less powerful light-blue lightning with those neons
    -cut the lightning from the ramps
    -cut the lights on the catwalk(or cutting a bood half,using the +A texture,so the neons looks broke)
    -put stronger green lights for the computers
    -put stronger red lights on the grates on the left&right
    -MAKE THE LIGHTNING FROM THE TOP LESS POWERFUL,put just some little lights so we can see just the steam and the wires

    ...i think the room will look more rounded and frightning <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> it'll also valorize the force points of the room
  • CyonProCyonPro Join Date: 2002-02-02 Member: 154Members
    I think both the design and most of the lighting of the room works well, seeing as it is close to the marine start (as Mart noted). However, I think the red lights would be better suited being turned 90 degrees so that they're pointing at each other, or turned completely around so that they cast their red glow on the doors, but not on the rest of the room. Would look more intimidating methinks.

    The only other peeve I have is with the ceiling and floor....they just look kind of empty and underdetailed compard to the rest. But this is my opinion.

    Off-Topic:
    Seems like when one person comments something like wires, many of the following just HAVE to comment them to.
