Tft Monitor Isn't Supporting Half Life

<div class="IPBDescription">Video mode supported..</div> Hi I have a Dell 17 inch TFT screen, its optimal (read working) resolutions are:
800x600 @ 75 hz or lower
1280x1024 @ 60 hz
With both resolutions it won't work with Half Life, it saids :
"Cannot display this videomode"
I tried using this:
fps_lan "60"
fps_max "60"
fps_modem "60"
gamma "3.000000"
brightness "3.000000"
gl_picmip "0"
vid_config_x 1280
vid_config_y 1024
in my useconfig, it still won't work, for a very brief moment I see the background of the menu, then it pops away to my all day favorite <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

PROBLEM SOLVED, I had a refresh lock turned on....
BALEET THIS THREAD PLS!
