Wireless Configuration

Well, I have been forced to move to Wireless 802.11b for my internet connection. And for some reason, i keep getting these lag spikes every 20-30 seconds. I have turned off the Wireless Zero Configuration service in windows, and that didn't seem to work. Anybody have any ideas? It could just be the router i am using now... I think i am going to try playing with a wire plugged into the back of the router...Any suggestions?

What kind of router is it? Is there anything (especially metal) between your antenna and the router?
