new wpns and stuf...
The screen powered down and mumbling began in the small table of 12 uniformed men. "Alright, you've seen what these critters can do to a whole squad of elites" said a dark figure. " So any suggestions? "
"erm, sir? our reports on the kharra indicate they are evolving, every mission comes back with more casualties from the last, our men have the best weaponry and technology and they still can't kill them off easily.." *clears his throat* " I think we need to focus our research on better equipment, The Kharaa are evolving and adapting.. Shoudn't we be doing the same?"
HMG₧
On a recent survey of the marines with HMGs, most of them dislike it, it is a B*tch to carry around and isn't very accurate. The Hmgs are not effective against onos, as the 4.56 rounds cannot penetrate the front armor plate of the onos. Most of the times, the rounds would make a tiny dent and wont effect the onos, and has been known to jam unexpectedly.
The Black compartment used to cover the Ammo clip has been known to jam, and thus causing the marine not able to reload.
The vertical barrels are not that good.. it is common for a round to slip between the barrels and jam the gun.
Our new HMG has the same upside down U ammo clip but it now contains 100 rounds, space had to be made for the new 7.63 "₧"rounds. This new rounds can penetrate armor better then the previous ones.
Also, the black plate has been removed to allow easy reloading to the hmg, Just take it out, put a fresh clip in and pull that pin back.
And last, the Vertical barrels are now horizontal, as each side of the ammo belt can be easily placed into a barrel. and doest not jam as easily.
If i get more comments ill make one about a MPRs ( multi purpose rifle)

Just like the xM8 is recoultionary because of its design out of plastic (durable, rust-proof, and lightweight) and that it has the new gas reload system (far less recoil). We can expect a futureistic HMG to utilize things like that and maybe some more:
metal-storm firing
superconductor cooling
even more rounds can be fire w/o cleaning
It's superior technology.
My guess is that the HMG uses metal barrels and a few metal electronics but is otherwise made out of plastic composites. Thus the mass should be soemwhere arround 5-6 Kg?
You are right about figuring a soldier's stuff's weight as important. Studies show soldier will often drop equipement weighting more than 20 lbs if they have to trek far with it.
Just let me completely finish revising the Kharaa manual before we move onto the Human stuff. I woudl love to work together with you on it. I have two other team members already who have expressed interest in helping me rewrite the manual:
LazerMane
TommyVercetti
And maybe I can convince BobtheJanitor to join us. I would love it if you could join the volunteers.
