<div class="IPBDescription">Won't delete</div> Downloaded beta 5 yesterday. First I tried the Bittorrent link available on the download page (http://engert.us/ns_install_v3_b5.exe.torrent). This then downloaded a file called ns_install_v3_b5.exe.exe. I thought it was strange so I scanned it (AVG and Ad-Aware SE, both updated) then ran it. It didn't do anything so I went and downloaded through traditional means.
Today when I went to delete the .exe.exe It wouldn't let me. I've tried deleting (Windows XP), erasing (Eraser), scanning multiple times (AVG and Ad-Aware SE), tried changing the file name, shutting down all services/processes to the point of a crash...anyone know how the hell to get this off my comp before it turns out to be a worm or something?
Edit: Okay, while experimenting I decided to see what copying would do. It just created another one with the exact same problem. It's not a virus yet but is getting damn close to it...

What happened: I used Opera to download it. For some reason it changed it to .exe (does not do this for other torrent files...). I'm not sure what was trying to use it.
The fix: After several failed attempts at restarting into MS-DOS I stumble accross "Safe-mode with Command Prompt". Not sure how I did it but I went into that and deleted the files. All's well and good now. *Looks for a padlock* Anyone?

The file would have been marked as "locked." Copying the file would copy this attribute. Your use of DOS worked as DOS ignores it.
(>3 Dos)
Incidentally, the crash you mentioned
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
shutting down all services/processes to the point of a crash...

... can be avoided.
When you close critical system processes you get a warning saying "System has become unstable and will be shutdown" etc etc.
Start, Run:
%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -a
This aborts the shutdown. Useful if you're tinkering with windows-file-protected files.
(Custom boot screens for example. Hacking boot.ini is shameful. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> StyleXP, eat your heart out.)
Don't run this
%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s -f -t 5 -c "Follow the white rabbit"
That is, unless you're very quick with the first command.

wth does that do?
And what does that do? I have a strange urge to try it...I think it might be something you have to do in 5 seconds or it formats...??
