My Monitor
<div class="IPBDescription">is it dead?</div> Hi,
I just came back to my PC, the monitor had gone into sleep mode, and the entire screen was a bright white colour when I moved the mouse around to wake it up. I could just barely determine the desktop behind it. I switched the monitor off and on - no difference. I reset the computer, still washed out. I unplugged the monitor from the computer, turned it on and it was still completely washed out.
I've only had this monitor for about 6 months, it was a brand new LG Flatron 910B 19" flat screen monitor. Can anyone give me a clue as to whats going on with it - is it time for a new monitor or is this a simple problem?
I'm now on a crappy 14' monitor and everything is working fine, so I'm pretty sure this is monitor specific, and not video card problems.
Thanks in advance,
Marine01

Please, does anyone have an serious suggestions/insight?
If not, yeah. Sounds like a full desertion (again Bush) hardware issue. Should schlep it back to where you got it.

Yes I reefed the brightness all the way up and all the way down, same for contrast. Did nothing.
Looks like I'll return it.
they have to either replace it, give you your money back or fix it.
edit: whoop too late
I say that's the problem <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
If not, try and get another video card or another monitor to double check. I recently bought a new monitor only to discover it was my video card that had fried.
May god have mercy on your soul... LG is garbage.
Try reseting the settings, and re-configuring it, like Talesin said, if that doesn't correct the problem, if you can, return it.
I even disconnected the monitor from the computer. Normally when I do this, the screen goes black and flashes a "monitor not plugged in" sign. However, even when its not plugged into the PC, its still white while flashing that sign. That pretty much confirms for me that its a hardware problem, and not a video problem.
I am also currently typing this msg on the same computer using a different monitor, and its working perfectly. Definately NOT video.
i feel for your poor ears

Ya, well I had the combo drive you probably have and it didn't burn CD's at all.
