Ns Will Not Run Properly

<div class="IPBDescription">Visual glitches up the ying-yang!</div> I just downloaded ns_install_v3_b5 via BitTorrent and installed it right away. I allowed the installer to slap the content wherever it wanted to (in my Steam folder under my email account) and attempted to play. Here's what happened.

- Steam loaded up nicely, and NS appeared under the Third-Party Games catagory.

- I double-clicked this and the game loaded up. (note: the music's bad ****)

- I editted my keys by deleting them all and inputting only the keys I felt I would use. I do this with Counter-Strike as well.

- I attempted to locate a server. After finding one (and waiting for a free slot) I attempted to connect.

- The usual happened. A progress bar popped up, but when it got to the "Parsing" part the screen went a little funny. Barely noticable, but funny. After waiting for a time I realized I was indeed connected to the server, I just couldn't see anything but the progress bar and a black background.

- I tinkered with it and discovered that I could watch other players. Pressing Esc brought me back to the menu, only when I did this the background was displaying what I was supposed to be looking at.

- After fumbling with it for awhile I quickly discovered I could move around the Ready Room, but simply could not see anything. I could hear my footsteps and everything.

What in the hell did I do wrong? How can I fix it?

Thank you for your time.

Are you running on OpenGL or Direct3D? OpenGL is better for NS, but if it doesn't work you can try Direct3D.

Also, try updating your video card drivers. What video card do you have?

Strangely enough, the problem seems to have fixed itself. I exited Steam to come here and ****, but when I tried it again it worked fine. I played for hours. It was grand.
