Cd Drive Woes..

OH noes! (I need help :( )
Okay, so I have had some troubles with my CD drive in the past, but now its got really bad.
Anyways.. The problem, in which I need help with.
My computer has troubles identifying CDs.
It started off small, I would put a CD in the drive and it just wouldn't bring up the CD name in "My computer". I could still access the data, but the drive would always read as "CD-RW Drive" not, say "DOOM3CD1" or something.
Next, it started reading the CD names, but it wouldn't change after the first CD I put in the drive. So I would start with "DOOM3CD1" and then switch to say, The sims 2, the sims 2 disc would still be labled "DOOM3CD1".
Well, now the problem has gotten really bad. It just can't tell the difference from one CD to the next. I will change CDs, then go into my drive and the files will show up as the same files for the first CD I put in. This, in general is a problem thanks to the wonderful age of multidisk games. The weird steps I have to go through to install certain games is just down right annoying and I could really use some help.. I figured the NS off topic forum and all its wonderful wisdom would be a good place to start

Eventually mine refused to believe in CD-Rs and needed a reboot to even realize there was media in there.
