    this is one reason im going for the store bought copy. i really considered getting it over steam, but if my account got screwed up or something happened, then no more hl2 for me, which i will probably end up playing 6 years from now when they are making hl3. at least with the physical disks i dont really have to worry about random crap errors.

    Except their difference is you WILL need to activate your copy of HL2 through Steam. Which, while I can understand they want all their copies registered, is really, <i>really</i> stupid.

    And don't knock down the poor people with the "If you can afford a computer that can run HL2 you can afford internet" Because I saved for 2 years to buy this computer <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> (crappy as it is).

    I don't think he mentioned that anywhere. But yeah, terms of service are always terrible because people won't read them or don't care.


    Though, if half of that stuff them mentioned in it happened to me because of steam. No terms of service is going to be strict enough to prevent me forming a pitchfork and torch response.

    I was just doing my 12 hours of sleep thing. So, woot for the post count...I've got a screenshot of it.


    Why can't they just annoy you with, "Want to register now? How about now? Now? What about now?" pop ups everytime you start the game? They should focus more on VAC and not on the whole, [DarthGabe] "Force them to register, make sure none of them escape the grasp of <s>the Deathstar</s> Steam!"


    Or maybe they'll realize it's a terrible idea, and not have the store bought copies forced to have an internet connection.
