Finally Installed Firefox
So yeah IE kept crashing for some horrible unknown reason (Full system virus/adware/etc scans turned up zilch) so I bit the bullet and downloaded Firefox.
Thus far it's pretty cool. Enjoy the tabbing and the like.
Is there anything particularly interesting I should know about Firefox?
Any plugins and the like?

Dictionary Search
Sage
Linky allows you to highlight a text-only link and rightclick it to open it in a new tab or new window, no more hassle with copy/paste. it can also open all links on a page into new tabs if you want to quickly scan a page deeper.
and do a search for pornzilla, it is a collection of mini tools that make it easier to open a gallery of thumbnails or save them all to disk, or even sort out the broken links behind a thumbnail gallery post.
Enjoy. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

<a href='http://www.radialthinking.de/radialcontext/' target='_blank'>Radial Context Menus</a> - A different take on mouse gestures. Kind've like NS's menu system, hold right click and a pie menu appears around the cursor, all your browsing options are available in different directions and they change according to what your cursor is over. i.e. over a link includes 'Open in Tab' to the right, 'Open in new Window' to the right, 'Copy URL' going up, and 'Save target' going down. When you get used to it, it makes for some fast browsing.

When I first saw this post, I was about to post that there was no need for Adblock, because you can already right-click and block images from a server. However, Adblock is much more effective.
-<b>Adblock</b>: Essential. The first extension I always install for firefox. I pretty much navigate the web completely ad free now.
-<b>Mouse Gestures</b>: I feel lost on a browser that doesn't have these. This extension has made my browsing so much more efficient its beautiful. Plus you can draw little pictures with it while you wait for stuff to load <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
-<b>IEview</b>: Adds a line in the context menu to open pages in IE. Its useful for some websites that don't work with firefox but not absolutely necessary.
-<b>Compact Menu</b>: I really enjoy this extension because I like to have my toolbar as small as possible. <a href='http://s90126729.onlinehome.us/screenshots/screenie10-04-04.jpg' target='_blank'>Here</a>'s my set up.
-<b>Download Statusbar</b>: Nicely made extension that shows little progress bars and information about your downloads in the status bar.
-<b>Web Developper</b>: Very useful if you create websites. Has a whole lot of features like loading local stylesheets to any web page
-<b>BugMeNot</b>: If you don't want to sign up to a million websites when you just want to download one file get this. With a simple click from the context menu the extension will search the <a href='http://www.bugmenot.com/' target='_blank'>bugmenot</a> database for a username and password that will get you into the site without registering.
I would also urge you to get <a href='http://backup.jasnapaka.com/' target='_blank'>MozBackup</a>. You can easily make backups of Firefox and Thunderbird to keep all your settings, history, favorites, etc.
screw left or right for foward/back
just rock your fingers acrose the lmb and rmb in the direciton you want to go and you do juat that.
example:
hold LMB press RMB and you go fowards
Hold RMB pres LMB and you go back.
exept you can do it alot faster <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I have two windows open right now. One is branded "Godzilla Arse-Squid", and the other is branded "Microhard ****-frog". How can you argue with results like that
I also discovered that Adblock can block google text ads, something I didn't think was possible before.

Holy. Crap. On. A. Stick.
Danke for pointing that out thansal. I never knew what rocker thingys did. This is way better than mouse gesture navigation! Laziness FTW!
*continuously goes back and forth between pages*
It did on my Old mouse, but not on my MX900 <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
ctrl+lmb = new window

I just right-clicked on the box with the text ad, and one of the options was "Block iFrame".
As I started using Adblock, I started thinking of things on a bigger scale. If Firefox blocks the ad from loading, does that mean that the company doesn't get paid for you viewing the ad on their site (in other words, does it track whether or not the ad is actually loaded when the page is visited)? If it does, and if a decent number of people actually start using adblocking stuff, then the internet could be completely changed. Sites that depend on advertisements to stay in business (like Google) would not have any source of income, causing them to go out of business.
Then again, I could be overlooking something really simple, or simply overthinking the situation. Anyway, those are my thoughts.
you arent.
and if firefox is sooooo great, why does it need plugins? <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
