I'm a little conflicted at the moment, it'll either be a spanky new PC or a DS and some nice clothes and DVDs.

I'm rather tempted to import a DS and Mario 64x4 for Christmas too, but I wouldn't know where to begin on <i>that</i> little quest.

Like previous GBs, an American DS will play PAL games just fine, yes?

hmm, I think it is time to start droping hints that a DS is what I want for XMass <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

When is the Nintendo DS planned for release?
(Anyone got any outside of Japan release dates?)

Those Mario 64 DS screenshots looked great.

Definetly in time for christmas. Always in time for Christmas. That's just how Nintendo is; smart.

I just ordered the Neon Genesis Evangelion Perfect Collection, so next I'm either buying the Escaflowne boxset, or the Trigun boxset. As far as christmas, I want volumes 1-6 of the Akira manga, and whatever boxset I didn't buy <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

That's pretty much it. My current vid card seems to be having stability issues, and my second computer has a really crappy vid card, so I could kill 2 birds with one stone.

Seeing that my parents have just started shelling out half a monthly grand for me so I can go study, I figure I'll be the one to fulfill wishes this year.
My father will get a copy of 'Sandman - Fables & Reflections', which's German issue is sadly out of print, so I'll have to manually translate it and give him the script as a printout with the English paperback.
Not as sure about my mother. She loves Scandinavian authors, so I think I'll find something in that vein.

In case they insist on giving me something, they'll get an excerpt of my book- and CD master lists.

Hmm. If I there are no problems with region for DS, I'll ask for one imported. There's not really anything else I want.

Prince of Persia 2 will be out for christmas, right? It's what I plan to get my mother. I wish they made more PC 3rd person action-adventure games, it's the only kind she really likes and she's running out of them by now...

That's indeed a peculiar taste. Doesn't she enjoy them on consoles? 'Cuz that would extend the choices a little.

I'm trying to wean her onto consoles, but she prefers PC games on the whole. It's not just a matter of keyboard vs gamepad, but other little things: for example, this type of game, on consoles, don't usually have a save-anywhere feature. Typically, you have to get to a save point, which is annoying.

Indulge my curiousity then... has momma played Max Payne? It does fit the bill as a 3rd person action/adventure. (Just, with a plethora of gratuitous violence and cram-it-down-your-throat angst)

Yeah, I can understand that, although a well solved save system, such as SoT's, should really help smooth that transition out. I assume your mother already blew through Beyond Good & Evil?

Yep, she's got through <i>Beyond Good & Evil</i>. Damn, it's such a brilliant game. She found the end boss a bit tricky, especially when the bloomin' controls got reversed...man, that was such a good end battle. So many games just peter out at the end. We were both so dissapointed at PoP:SoT's endboss. I felt mean beating the snot out of him.

I wish they'd released the soundtrack for BG&E, but as far as I can find, they haven't done. I did check the Ubi Soft forums, but all I could find there was a petition. All that's out there are tacky rips, which aren't authentic enough for my tastes. Such a shame. <a href='http://www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR01189' target='_blank'>This</a> remix of various BG&E songs is pretty good, though, but I'd like the real version of the final boss music...

Max Payne is a good idea.

    What about GTA3, or VC?

Or even monkey island series.. not exactly action, but it's adventure puzzle <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'm not sure what i want for christmas. Something nerdy, for my computer? Or a game or two? Or books/clothes.. Or a pet oompa loompa.. I don't know =[

I'm not keen on giving my mother a game where you can pick up prostitutes. Don't get me wrong, VC is awesome, it just seems...wrong to give it to my dear old mum.

I want a pair of Oakley Wisdoms for skiing this year... as well as maybe some Siver Cartel pants to ski in. Along with my usual season pass to the local mountain and maybe a new set of bindings.

    I love winter very much.

A Car that I can call my own, instead of a permanant status of "on loan from your dad".

But beyond that, I could hope for a DS, but the price might not look to good at launch.

DS is supposed to cost $150 at launch and games are supposed to be around $40. I say the price looks incredible, when compared to the whopping $350 PSP, with it's amazing 2 hour battery life.
