bah, leave him alone, he's given up on that. I encountered him in game and he laughed at his stupidity. What's done is done.

yeah he is, but he behaved himself for a good 3-4 months in a seperate NS community and since the admins here are nice they let him use lvl3 redemption, scooter is actually cool people if your willing to invest some time
^___^

Actually, DSL would not be affected by this at all, since you are suffering from a cable related problem.

Now, I have had decent experience will cable (except for the fact that it sucks with more than 1 computer on a connection) over the past 5 or so years that I've had it. In your case though, since it is a problem with the cable infrastructure itself, and not your actual company, you are probably best off switching to DSL, if you have that option.

But don't both cable and DSL get converted and merged onto the same backbone for long distance data transfer?

Im getting kinda the same problem. At hours where nobody is on line (2 am in the morning for example) I get fine pings on most games. But in the afternoon Servers show up with pings lik 400->2k
Just started happening for me this past week though, so mine might have a diffrent cause.

edit: changing my first letter of every post is harder to remember then some might think :/

yeah, they do travel the same backbone, but that backbone is usually at least oc-3 so it shouldn't be that laggy, cable is shared bandwith. When everyone hops on during peak hours you get less bandwith and thats probably why you get higher pings...

I love my cable. I live in retirement central, old people every which way. If anyone near me uses the internet, it's AOL.

I have a lot of cable bandwidth all to myself!

I had this same issue with Adelphia Cable in Connecticut for about a year. I switched to DSL, way too many people have cable in my area.
