It's time for another low poly marine structure!

Today's special guest is the low poly infantry portal! Weighing in at a svelte 75 polys, it trounces it's hefty bigger brother, who lumbers around at 237 polys. Being only 32% of his bigger brother's size while still looking good really makes him a hit with the ladies.

I also love how you can actually make the models low poly and not kill the quality. Like I recall someone else saying. Low poly does not mean low quality.

HP models are only worth it if you see a major difference between the normal and the HP model... So... I think he prooved himself that there is no need for it here

loads of useless things you'll never see, and wasted polies?
    j/k

im trying to figure out, do you just take the old skin and form it over the new model? or do you remake the skin from nothing?

    DirectX Mesh Tools?

Hahahaha, new skin... MrSocks, you slay me. I couldn't create a decent skin from scratch if my life depended on it. I do have to edit the existing skin so that it fits the new polygon arrangements, but it's mostly just cut and paste hackjobs.
As long as I'm on the subject, I can't create the models from scratch, either. I just edit the existing default models, deleting vertices and creating faces. It'd be a nightmare trying to get the size and proportions right if I did it from scratch.
I find it funny that people think I should try my hand at high poly models... I've got nothing on the skills of people like REDDMonkey or CoolCookieCooks. I just feel like I'm filling a niche with these low poly models, and maybe I'll buff up my modelling skills at the same time.

These are all very nicely done, but for me custom skins are usually about improving the quality.

Aside from everything done by Brigadier Wolf and a few other odd people working together, NS doesn’t have very many good skins or models in fact I have yet to see anything worth using by way of skins or models in a while.

Just kind of bothers me that such a great mod doesn’t have allot of really great custom models and skins to go with it.

Let’s get some high poly structures out there, let’s get high poly marines, and high poly aliens. I don't want a hideous undistinguishable black blob ripped off from the movie aliens to replace my onos, I don't want the exact same onos colored green ether.

Don't take this personally your low poly work is great, this is sort of directed at the whole NS modding community...come on guys pick up the slack...if the CS guys can do it we should have the best freaking skins and models ever.

Ugh, count the amount of CS players. Compare that to the amount of NS players.
No wonder CS has more/better custom models than CS.

/ontopic, great job on this whole pack, were really needed.
