To test this new 3D graphics engine.
Hello again, some of you may remember me posting a similar topic 3-4 weeks ago. This is the same thing but with new material.
In the last test, I was getting general test results for the first time with this engine. Since then I've taken the test results and refined the system to be much more crash-proof. As well as updating the engine to take advantage of DirectX 9.0c
So, once again, I would truly appreciate it if anyone who has a few extra minutes and a video card with 32+ MB of memory would download this test application and run it.
I don't need performance statistics like last time, I mainly just need to know if it works or crashes. And if it crashes, I would like a DXDIAG report from you so I can hopefully find out why it crashed.
You can grab the test application from here. (Requires DirectX 9.0c)
Controls:
standard mouselook + aswd movement
x = toggle fullscreen mode
e = toggle wireframe mode
r = toggle light positioning. When on, the light will follow the camera.
mousewheel = rotate the camera
y = autorotate the camera
[ = Turn off FSAA (off by default)
] = Turn on your maximum level of FSAA
This is a sample of what you should see....

And lastly, if anyone cares as to why I'm putting all this work into crashproofing and optimizing this thing. Stop on over to http://www.nuclearmonkeysoftware.com and check out my team's student game project for this year.

127: Lowest FPS
221: Highest FPS
(much more stable than before!)
P4 2.0ghz
GeForce FX 5600 256mbXT
1280mb DDRAM
Good luck!
1.1 GHz
64MB GeForce 4 MX 420
256MB Ram.
did you unzip the entire project to it's own folder before running it?

Can you please run DXDIAG and send me the saved output?
If so, the best place to send it is dkircher@digipen.edu

yes sir
:edit: but I didn't have the folder open, I was launching it from the desktop menu thingy. I opened the folder and it workes fine now
XP1800
1gig of ram
ati 9700 on latest omega drivers
direct x c
windows xp sp1
average FPs 450
800 - 900 FPS
ATi X800 XT
Athlon 64 3400+
WinXP
DX9.0c
Radeon 9600XT 128MB,
P4 3.6GHz
Catalyst 4.9CCC
So, I've made a mental note to make it exit gracefully if you're not running 9.0c. Until then, nobody run it unless you have 9.0c installed.
P4 2.4ghz
1gb ram
GeForce4 ti4200 AGP8x 128mb
DX 9.0c
P4 2.5 GHz
512 MB RDRAM
Geforce FX 5700 256 MB
Radeon 9200 128mb
AMD 2400+
256mb or ram
at ~100fps looking at creatures head on, ~300 otherwise.
Life is good.....
It turns out I had been overlooking that some video cards are advanced enough to do accelerated animation but were not advanced enough to use the specific feature set I was trying to use.
Hopefully the new download should find a happy medium for those cards.
So, yeah, if you got under 300 fps, try redownloading and running again plz and lemme know if it breaks.

~130 looking at creatures in fullscreen (~100 in windowed), now.
300+ otherwise.
x800 pro
1gb ram
Never dipped below 900 (oh and it didn't crash.)
Pat yourself on the back, them, it seems to be working quite well.
512mb Ram
ATI 9600pro
~500fps and no crash.
1gb Corsair Dual Channel XMS PC3200 RAM
X800 Pro 256mb(with catalyst 4.10 and DX9c)
Athlon 64 3800
ATi All-In-Wonder Radeon 9200 Pro
P4 2.8 GHz
512 MB RAM
Windows XP: Media Center Edition with Service Pack 2
By the way, it's not too nice about letting you Alt+Tab back in.
512MB Corsair
2000+
asus a7n8x-x
powercolor 9800se
catalyst 4.8
win xp
1 Gig DDR 2100 Ram
Radeon 9800 Pro (128)
2.25ghz AMD Athlon
Windows XP
ATi All-In-Wonder Radeon 9200 Pro

Can you elaborate?
I thought I had alt-tabbing working pretty well.
P3 - 533 Mhz
256 MB SD-RAM
128 MB ATI Radeon 9200 SE
I cannot believe that I'm getting 100-560 FPS. I tried and I tried, but I couldn't get less! I like this engine.
(lol)
was between 150 and 300
yeah alt tabbing works in the sense that you actually make the other window active, but the engine seems to be in "always display on top" mode.
433 FPS facing the creatures, 5983 FPS facing any other direction.
GF6800GT @ Ultra(Extreme)
Athlon Barton @ 2400MHz
And a Gigabyte of RAM @ 370MHz
PS: Had 8xFSAA and 16xAF accidently enabled on the first run, and had the exact same results, so I reckon it's a bit CPU limited over here.
If so, any chance someone can send me a screenie of the demonstrated effect? Every computer I've tried this on lets me alt-tab just fine.
