Bittorrent Keeps Rebooting My Computer

I have a Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet v.4, (network card) and whenever i have torrents running my computer spontaneously reboots.

OS is Win XP Home.

I checked the FAQ, and it says to install some ADMtek Drivers or something, but the website is down, and it's stupid... I can't find anywhere else to download them, and I can't use bittorrent if it's doing this.

*sigh*

I've never liked bittorrent.

Go to Control Panel> System> Advanced> Startup and Recovery Settings and uncheck "Automatically restart". Then run BitTorrent and scribble down the entire error message that it gives you, and post it here.

Aha! Believe it or not, my girlfriend had this exact problem; her network card is identical to yours except that it is a v.5. She encountered the problem while attempting to use the Blizzard Downloader to retrieve patches for World of Warcraft... the BD uses the bittorrent protocol.

A little sherlock holmesing by yours truly led me to this page, which includes a list of network cards that seem to dislike Bittorrent (Check Solution #2). Yours is the first on the list. (; It ALSO has a link to a set of drivers that will resolve the issue; they worked like a charm for my gf.

    Hope this fixes it!

    [edit]Dammit, Thansal! GG. ^^

    hehe

I actualy had the same problem, mine was my linksys router.

the explenation is the BT is a mean piece of code that seriously overtaxes any network hardware.

if there is any bug, BT will find it and kill your computer ussing it (the linksys one would generaly run for a few hrs before the BSoD)

oh, and to drag this off topic.

    Does Blizz actualy use BT?
cuz last I checked the guy had gone to work on Steam.....

Yeah some comapnys started using bt to distribute their files, because they save a lot of bandwidth with it. Also, if your computer still freezes after you updates the drivers, there's a bt client called Azureus, it has an option to "slowly connect new peers", check this, it solves problems with disconnecting, but I heard it also helped some people with this router. (oh and a side note, don't use the original bt client if you use that)
