<div class="IPBDescription">Well maybe a little bit</div> I updated the bios about an hour ago cos the bios thought my Athlon XP 2200 was a Athlon XP 1500.
Anyway somit's gone wrong now cos I can't play any games now it's as if I got really old crappy gfx card instead of my Geforce 4. Some of my games like elite Force 2 take ages to get through them intro movie where it chugs frame by frame where as Operation Flashpoint Resistance tries to be more helpful and gives me and error message which I'll add to this post.
As far as I can tell atm updating the bios must have set everything back to default so i prolly got to adjust something in the bios to sort it but it's really late and I'm tired so I'll fiddle with it tomorrow; since there's always some genius here I thought I would ask if anyone knew what I had to set in the bios b4 I hit the sack.
Motherboard is an ASUS A7V880
Old Bios version 1003
New Bios version 1007
GFX card: Geforce 4 Ti4200 AGP 8X

is it possible to roll back the bios and try again?
EDIT: is there anything else you've done with it since the bios fixing?
have you checked D3d, after all that's what the error says
1) Uninstall your drivers and install <b><a href='http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/' target='_blank'>Driver Cleaner</a></b>
2) Reboot in to safe mode, run Driver Cleaner and remove all traces of your drivers
3) Reinstall the latest drivers
I had a problem like this before and that fixed it, so it's worth a shot.
Never touch a running system.
Read what he posted agin and carefully this time.

True Story, Driver Clean resolves many issues. Use it.

EDIT: Note to self:- questions end with question marks?
yeah fine, it recognises the cpu for what it is and I have no problems watching films on my pc through the media player or anything like that.
see there is your first problem that is not because of your bios version
my athalon 2200 thought it was a 1500 too because of the motherboard all you gotta do is go into the bios settings and "overclock" it its not realy overclocking its more like setting it to its normal speed what your motherboard did is set it at the lowest speed it runs on so then it judged it speed and said its a 1500
hope you understand my rambling
take your motherboard to a psychiatrist: it needs help.
Now go into your bios and reset it to default configuration (sometimes called "manufacturer settings"), pbobalby you can also make a hardware reset of your setting but this should not be necessary.
After you did that everything should be ok.
If not, do the same driver cleaner story again.
There seem to be a problem in adressing your card.
Again, this should be easy to fix.

no no no <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I have set the cpu multipe and the cpu frequency correctly (13.5 x 133) to get the cpu to run at the correct speed of 1.8Ghz but the bios still thinks it's an Athlon XP 1500 lol
I have since gone back to the original bios verson and thankfuly all is well again.
I tried setting the bios back to defaults uoda but that's didn't fix the problem <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> What I might do is update the bios next time I do a format and see if that works.
