I generally don't but my gf pretty much thinks trent is the greatest musical genius of our generation. I really like the songs that aren't overly angry, which rules out at least 80% of it <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I'm a big fan myself.

Favorite songs are probably Into the Void and Closer.

However, I think No You Don't is the absolute best song to be angry to ever.

Nine Inch Naills is really wierd. I really like some of their music, and then there's some which is just utter crap (though I suppose the same could be said about any band).

The songs that have been mentioned already are all really awesome, but I'd have to say my favorite is Just Like You Imagined, with Reptile a close second.

I do tend to prefer the "quieter" songs though, like Hurt, La Mer, and A Warm Place. But then there are songs like Where is Everybody? that are just really fun to listen to when driving and stuff.

I dunno. Nine Inch Nails is really wierd.

I've had a love/hate relationship with NIN over the years. He has some great material, but if you honestly believe that Trent Reznor is the greatest musician of all time, you have a lot more to learn about music production.

Worst thing about NIN: the fanbase. I've known too many cookie cutter "Mansonite" kids that all believe the same thing, dress the same way, and think the exact same things.

One of the best games of all time, I have all their Halos except 12 which is the video of some of their tours. I'm gonna get the DVD version when its re-released in November.

Halo 18 is also supposed to come out early next year. Trent is mixing it as we speak.

Edit: Dave Grohl is doing the drums for the upcoming album(If u don't know who he is, he was the drummer for Nirvana and he is the singer for the Foo Fighters).

So the CD is gonna kick @$$

    :D

I like Closer, March of the Pigs, The Perfect Drug, and We're In This Together Now (i.e. their probably 4 biggest hits) but other than that most of the NIN I've heard I don't like that much. Trent Reznor is definately a cool guy, I'm much more of a fan of his sound effects work than his musical work. :P

I love trents work, the only 'downside' to NIN imo, is they release alot of remixes of which many are incredably similar versions minus one or two parts. But at least their main albums are kept free of those tracks.

I have great respect for his musical production talent, some of my favourite tracks are Even Deeper (the breaks are so groovey), Ruiner and Kind I want to (more great drums).
He certainly understands how to build a song up, I think they would be a great band to see live.

Lyrically hes good for the most part and actually tries to speak from experience rather then a general 'im upset' style of many out there.
Sanctified is a good one for the lyrics, but then again im much more into the music of a band then the lyrics so ill forgive him even at his most cheesy.

Nine inch nails... Heh.. They're not exactly my style. I do like a few of their songs, Closer being the only one I can remember right now, but there are many that I dislike.

Been a NIN fan since around 1990. Haven't been able to get into the newer stuff.

If you like NIN, I recommend Pigface, KMFDM, and my personal favorite Ministry.

And pay no attention to the Mansonites. I went to see NIN in Detroit many years ago and guess who opened up for them-Manson and Co. without all the makeup and nonsense. They were raw and original then. Now they're parodies of themselves.

Trent lost the plot not soon after he lost Vrenna and definitely after ****tney Love ditched him to bone Manson (go figure) and decided to tell the whole music industry that he was, in fact, a "three inch nail". Ouch.

Starfuckers Inc marked the end of NIN for me as something worth listening to. Now I listen to Ladytron and I have no idea which NS Mapper I have to blame for it. Answers on a postcard please.

Personally, I like Manson better. But trent got them where they are now because

    1. He owns the label that released Anti-Christ Superstar, his breakthrough album.

    and

    2. He helped A LOT on A-CS. If you listen to it, and hollywood, you can definatly hear trents style in all the songs.

Hey defiance, how bout you provide some valid arguements like everyone else? This has been a pretty good discussion untill you came in here.

    KMFDM is great <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I like some NIN stuff, and i like almost all Mansons songs (except his first cd and his latest work, bleh!), i wouldn't call myself a *mansonite* because i don't try to copy anyone and i'm not a wannabe goth.

Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals (i mean the whole cd's not only songs) are, to me, superior peaces of artistic expression. The one sounds aggressive and the other has a sad, tragic attitude.

    My 2 pance.

Probably my favorite band of all time. I find myself liking other bands better now and again, but I always seem to go back to NIN. Always.

Trent is a damn fine musician. No doubt about it, and very clever musically and visually (at his shows)

Hm I think I'm gonna listen to some now.

My favorite songs depends on my mood. 'Still' (the bonus cd that came with 'And All That Could Have Been') is especially good when your feeling down. Very atmospheric.
Tho I always find 'Last' stands out as a fiiiine song. Fine. Oh yes very fine.

Ummm, seriously who the hell is messing with the swear filters. This post should show the admins that they need to stop messing around with the filters, you don't need to add words that might offend 2-year olds that can't even read yet. Seriously, look at this it's so bad that its not filtering the words that should be filtered. SHAME ON YOU ADMINS.

Actually, they did the sound effects too.

That is why <3 the Shaft

Reznor was supposed to do all the DOOM 3 sound effects too, but there were scheduling conflicts so he couldn't. Thought his little 'band' thing that he does on the side is more important than doing DOOM3 sound effects! The nerve...

I used to like NIN, but now i find them a tad annoying. With the release of The Fragile (Or whatever it was), a double CD with two good tracks, i kinda lost all faith. There are definately some old, great ones, but i'll never find myself buying another NIN CD again.

Despise NIN but I'm a closet Manson fan.
