If you're a people person, try applying to Starbucks. Great atmosphere, great company for employees (one of the top 100 in the US to work for), excellent benefits, stock options, tuition reimbursement - and you get all that as long as you work 20 hours/week or more. You can make a career out of it if you want to, or if you're like me it's definitely a good steady job while you look for something more permanent.

Start your own maby :-p , think of something people need and provide that need, if you cant find the people who do and become the middle man because making problems last longer is a good buisness.

thing is, ill elaborate, i moved up n orth to be with my gf...

and she is in college 5 days a week and works on the 6th..

i work every sunday. meaning i only see her after 10:30 pm 5 days a week and only a few hours more on the weekend.. in short its making us drift apart. so as much as in enjoy my job im gonna have to go.. cos they cant give me the hours i want.. i want monday-friday 9-5. or stuff in that timeframe.

so i have my weekends free for my gf, quality time etc...

and i get evenings back to play games and relax...

i really want to get out of a monotonous shopping enviroment... i.e woolworths, tesco that kinda thing.. its just too boring.. i want stimulation.

and coil. i hate coffee <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> but seriously.. i like people, but i have always found people in coffee houses not my kind atall... + this is england.

How long have you been working there, chances are if your 6months+ and you threaten to quit they willg ive in to your demands because your a more productive employee than a newstart would be.

Why don't you apply to work for the Royal Mail m8 you will get Mon-Fri work as standard, the pay would definatly be better than blockbusters and I would bet good money that they are hiring now where you are cos of the oncoming Christmas pressure.

Few of my mates back up north work for Royal Mail and the pay is OK, but you finish work at lunchtime everyday and get every sunday off <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Admittedly you have to start at like 5am but meh.

I'd recommend a job at my place (William Hills) but the hours are pretty terrible especially during the summer.

Yeah but that's only if you work on deliveries. I work indoors as a machine operator and an internal sorter. My hours are 8am - 5:30pm mon - fri.

Basically I was started on £6.07 an hour but it's since gone up to about £6.50 an hour as i've been there over 6 months. I work at the main sorting office in portsmouth and I generally amd sorting letters (they train you for this). Basically I'm sorting the letters into a large frame with pidgeon holes in for various parts of the country; it's all done by post code as well so it's easy to pick up.

There's also packet sorting with again is done the same way as the letters but done on a big metal frame with mail bags hanging under it, this is more fun cos you have to stand at one end and throw the packets at the right bag <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->.

Machine operating is easy as well but the Royal Mail insists on training for even the most basic things, good things is you get paid for all training and once trained you get a bonus when working the letter sorting machines like the CFC or the MTT. All you do is feed printed business mail into them and the machine sorts it all automatically.

It can get boring sometimes but no more than any other job tbh and they normally let you wear headphones, plus the people I work with are a good laugh so it's alright plus they give you plenty of breaks as well. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

You said that your not to far away from Liverpool before didn't you? So there would definatly be a main sorting center in or nearby to Liverpool might even be more than one cos Portsmouth is tiny and has two.

    1) Would I be right in thinking that 6.50 pounds is around 16-18 dollars australian? If so, may i comment on a strong currency.. I'd like me some of that, if it weren't for all the british <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    2) Moquiao, remember it's not just about the money, but what you're going to do with it. Can you live on 6.50 pounds an hour [or whatever job you're going for]? Are there decent career prospects here? What about your dreams in life.. how will you achieve them? Are you looking for some money or a career? You're relatively free now; think about your future and what you want in life.
    3) Good luck.. I also need some money <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> I hope you get yours
