So, I installed SP2 on this guys machine. It has just been fully formatted, and re-installed with a legal XP CD. I get Norton running, and go to do windows updates. I do a whack of minor ones first, which are fine. Then I do SP2, now the taskbar won't display, no matter how many times I reboot.
I tried shutting down explorer.exe and relaunching it to no avail, and Im kinda stumped, any ideas?

So, SP2 is working fine, it was Nvidias useless drivers. Uninstalled em and I can use it again...
What are those 3rd party nvidia drivers called? omega?
BT freaks out (whether or not I have the ports open, which I always do).
IRC freaks out (same ^^).
Internet browsing becomes 28.8kbps speeds.
Gaming ping becomes 3 - 4 digits.
At least, that was for the first 2/3 weeks after I installed it. Lately, I have managed to keep sp2 firewall up without as many problems. BT still doesn't like it, regardless of whether I have all the common ports open; 6734, 6881, 6889, 6969, etc.
Course, knowing me, there is undoubtedly something mind bogglingly simple that I probably forgot to do.
Given that this is a family computer though (the building of my personal god machine begins in around 1 month!) the security wins over the slight lessening of performance.
Anyone here using omega?

Seriously though, more features, more customizable stuff, and generally better support for game specific problems.
Service Pack 2, for Windows. It turns the firewall on, plus adds some stuff to Internet Explorer. I found every single noticeable feature to be annoying.
That'll be the MS.
