    I can't remember what I used but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a custom viewing program, something simple like MSPaint or IE. Just fool around with some stuff using 'open with' and you'll find it eventually.

    I would tell you exactly what to use if I had my PC...

    Not sure if IE can handle TGAs that well, Firefox probably can, I do know Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro can open TGAs fine.

    hehe, thank you JezPuh! Yesterday he gave me a linkage for FireFox... and i'm loving it!

    All cept for the entering tags thing XD

    Another question- how do I use a .tga as a skybox? From my knowledge... you just enter the name? But what about the extension, the location, ect?

    personally I prefer <a href='http://www.irfanview.com/' target='_blank'>IrfanView</a> as image viewer, since it's freeware, and can handle most formats. You can even view wad files with it :O

    but anyway... the six tga files go into the ns/gfx/env/ folder
    and in hammer -> Map -> map properties.. -> environment map (cl_skyname) you enter the name of the sky, without the last two letters and extension.
    So.. e.g. myskylf.tga => mysky
    that's it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    AH! That explains why there are 6 parts to each! Never did understand that before (one for each side on a cube right?)

    What's the general consensus/opinion on skybox editing. Is it the same ruling that applies to NS textures (can be used in an NS project etc.)?

    I believe all NS specific skymaps are only to be used in NS projects, just like the textures.
