Looking For A Job

BaconTheoryBaconTheory Join Date: 2003-09-06 Member: 20615Members
Well I will be turining 16 this February and I will be looking for a job. I'm not sure what I want to do exactly, but I know that there is not much work for 16-year-olds beyond the local Dunkin Donuts. I think that I might be able to build webpages, provided I can get a Paypal account. I might also be able to do some Webmaster/Server Admin stuff for some local buisnesses. Any suggestions on what I can do?

Proficiencies:

Web Design

Server Administration

Being Funny

Making Food

You're gonna be 16. Get your head out of the clouds and flip some burgers.

do you actualy have a resume of work?

if not forget it. (you can probably forget it any way)

    how to get a job:
    1) Make a resume (use words resume template, it is nice)
    2) give resume to every local buisness you are remotly interested in working for.
    3) wait.

Yeah, flip burgers or do retail.

You gotta pay your dues, then work on your marketable skills. Then PROVE to a good employer that they'd be stupid not to hire you.

You're turning sixteen, nobody will hire you for anything other than slave labour. Just get a job making pizzas, nothing that requires face-to-face with customers, and stay there for 6 months. Then move on, so you have a number of jobs in your resume as experience, when you finally get a job worth being in. By the way, if you want to make money using your skills, you're better off setting up a business and being an entrepreneur instead of trying to get hired, because it's not gonna happen. At least if you do it your way you have a chance.

I'm turning sixteen next may, and I'm too lazy and too proud [you don't want this] to get a "sixteen year old job". So i'll either continue being broke, or try and set up some creative ways to earn my money through my own skills and ability to use those skills. Good luck.

If there's a local GameStop/Software Etc., I'd give them a shot. You probably know games well enough to hold a job there, and the 15% discount is well worth it. You also get a kick-**** discount at Barnes and Noble, so you can make some money, spend time involved with something you enjoy, and not waste as much money on stuff you'd buy normally.

Do NOT get a job at a retirement home working as a diatary aid... you've been warned.

Another good idea might be to talk to your friends // friends parents and see if they can get you some kind of paid internship if lets say, friend #1's parents worked at Intel.
