Alien Spawns

<div class="IPBDescription">they're not working</div> Since beta5 came out I've been having trouble with a map.. A few versions back I used ripent and converted cs_moria2 to play as a combat map. Some liked it, some hated it.. whatever, it became a staple on our server. Everything was great, until beta5 came out. With the release of beta5, the aliens won't spawn properly. When you join aliens, and there are not yet any marines, instead of being able to run around the map like normal, you are dead, and looking at the readyroom. When a marine joins the game.. you spawn wherever you happen to be inside the readyroom rather than at a info_team_start. The bizarrest thing about all this is that if you turn on cheats, the aliens use the spawns properly.. This one is just baffling me.. I have converted quite a few maps and this is the only one thats behaving this way.

I have 16 info_team_starts for team 2 set up in a 4x4 grid. They are all seperated by 128 units, and spaced off the ground.. well.. however high a marines origin is. 8 of them may actually be too close to walls to spawn an onos, but at the very least the other 8 should work fine.

As for errors, the server doesn't print any.. none at all. It just doesn't spawn the aliens.

I've tried remaking all the spawns, placing them obscenely far from everything.. and it still won't work. I'm positive that I have all the required entities and I'm just at a complete loss as to why this isn't working. Anything you might know would be extremely helpful, thanks.

    Well, let's see.

    You do have 32 info_player_starts and 16 team1 info_team_starts, as well as 1 info_mapinfo and 1 info_gameplay?

    Yep, I have all that.. I found the problem actually.. After weeks of poking at it, someone made me look at the hive instead of the player spawns.. I had maxspawndistance set at 500, which is about 4000-5000 units too short.. It didn't matter in combat in beta4a.. apparently it matters in beta5.     Having *cough* *cough* converted several cs maps to ns combat (no flaming please, mappers) I have experienced this identical problem more than once.

    I don't know what your conversion to B5 had to do with it, but this problem occurs when alien team starts are not far enough off the ground. I suggest raising each of the info_team_starts 20 or 30 units (the z coordinate) for team 2.
