I just got battlefield 1942 and was wondering what are some essential downloads and mods? Uh.....I guess that sums it up <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

p.s Is there some kind of modification that will allow me to play music when I enter a jeep/vehicle?

    Since I hate BF1942 so much and only one mod keeps me from uninstalling it. Forgotten Hope the best WW2 Realism mod. The game is much much much much much much more graphical then BF1942 and pushes the polygons quite high. A recommended 1 gig of RAM is a must.

    please please PLEASE if your going to saying anyhting with the prefix DC it should be DCX (DC extended) or DCR (DC realism) DC adn DCF are crap pure and simple compared to the slew of other BF mods out there (and some not yet released.)

    my quick list (in no order)
    Galactic conquest (space battles FTW)
    FH (if you got a good system your gunna love this mod)
    DCX (next release will have homing missiles not like that crap in BF-V)
    DCR (a great mod in it's own right)
    BF:40K not yet released but this mod has serious potential

    Too bad you didn't get BF:V, I find that much more enjoyable, and EA re-released the BF1942 content as a mod to take advantage of the new engine.

    DC is fun, but overrated.

    I would have gone with Galactic Conquest or Joint Operations of BF:V or something but to each his own. Desert Combat is a must for LANs at least, and Forgotten Hope is nice if you like realism.

    DC is incredible fun when you play it on a LAN with 4-5 other friends against about 30 bots of medium intelligence, and refer to all the opposition bots as the derogatory and insensitve name "Muhammed Jihad". Streets of Bashra against overwhelming numbers is so much fun, especially when you duck and twenty rockets fly past you.

    Although they have the unfortunate tendency of picking only Anti-Tank and Sniper.

    Desert Combat sucks. Don't like it at all.

    EOD (Eve of Destruction) is a great mod, however. Dunno if its still around or not though, since there's Battlefield:Vietnam and all.. But if it is, check it out, cause its cool.

    and DC final for the win, theres also a Halo mod called Home front but its not super popular!

    The only one really worth playing is Desert Combat. Most of the others aren't too popular. Note that the expansion packs are generally a royal waste of cash - as a LOT of servers just run vanilla BF. All the packs added were a few new maps and veichles - which are not avliable ever in vanilla BF maps.

    Unlike a lot of people here I love playing Desert Combat. I especially love playing about with the spectre gunship <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> (I've only seen it on one level though).
