What makes this better than just using the normal Theme Manager from Stardock?
• RellixRellix Join Date: 2003-02-15 Member: 13572Members, Constellation, Reinforced - Shadow
Someone explain to me why I should download this and make my PC look good what kind of features does it have.

It just changes how windows looks. For example, it turns the start button into the ATI symbol.

So it's not that mych different that normal Theme Manager. Oh well. I'll stick with litestep.

Good to see some big companies are starting to endorse skinning in general.
NVidia are sponsering a skinning contest, and now Ati have this.
A little bit more flexability in how we can make things look is a good thing.

EDIT Nvidia's contest is for a desktop calander...not actual skinning.

Well I like it. Makes a change from the crappy default WinXP Olive/Silver/Blue.

Go to litestep.net and (register) look through themes there using Litestep.

Strange, happens to me whenever I open a link in a new tab or resize Firefox.

[edit]At least I still like the skin enough that I'm going to use it until I notice a performance decrease or an increasing frustration level with the above described bug.

[edit2]Has anyone else noticed that if you have the startbar at 2 or 3 times its normal "thickness,", the clock area also shows the day of the week and date?

Yes, but who ever has a larger taskbar? Much more useful would be to have the time and date side by side.

Ugh. I really don't like stardock or the WindowsXP look. If you really want your computer to look nice, just use Litestep. It is faster than Stardock and actually adds features, in addition to being more customizable and prettier.

I've been using a modified version of Silver Fleep for a while now. One of my favorites.

Litestep is too buggy...

I use a simple patched uxtheme.dll so I can use themes from themexp.org without any 3rd party resource hog software.

I have the ximian theme. On my rimary monitor is the start menu, 2 rows for the task manager, and the secons I have the quicklaunce bar and the desktop bar with large icons, it's pretty.

http://www.cabewse.com/bigradiant.jpg

that's a screenie of my Radiant setup that shows my current theme. No 3rd party crap and it's functional.

just google uxtheme.dll

Be carefull though, it's different for Base XP, SP1 and SP2

There's also instructions somewhere on how to overwrite the default dll, which windows won't let you do normally.

I've never had any issues with Litestep. Then again I make my own themes. >_>
