Advanced hivesight?

Which is it?
in the manual it says advance hivesight and it sounds like it's supposed to improve the hive sight...making the aliens able to pick up/sense other life forms

but in game the description leaves me more with the impression that it's some sort of night vision....so which is it? I haven't really tried out the ability yet since I usually go for cloaking(also I've heard it's buggy)

I think it would be cool if the advanced hivesight ability would be sort of like the marines motion tracking....making the aliens pick up movement and add it to the hive sight even without the marines being in visibilty of the nearby alien or parasited(this also seems to match the descripton in the manual)...this would make the aliens who choose this ability to serve as alien radars....with each level the radius should increase.

btw. the title should be "advanced hivesight or advanced sight?" I think in game it says "advanced sight" and the description doesn't seem to have anything to do with the hive sight as per see.

but in the manual it says "advanced hivesight" and the description given don't lead my mind on to nightvision but more the other stuff I mentioned, "radar ability"(which also seems to fit in with the title of "advanced hive sight")

Advanced Hivesight allows you to see every marine nearby highlighted by pressing the flashlight key.
I don't exactely know whether this can be decleared as 'hivesight' or 'sight' - Jeff Paris, our writer, has the whole universe pretty damn fleshed out, so I'm inclined to go with his suggestion.

You're right however in so far that it isn't directely connected with the usual hivesight interface, so the name can be taken as counter-intuitive.

It's, by the way, also labeled as 'hivesight' in game.

does the marines have to be in line of sight? or does it highlight them thru walls aswell?(like the hive sight)(if the last that's actually pretty much describes what I meant with the radar sight stuff)

it just makes everything that isn't part of the map go semi-transparent and glow funny. Basically re-textures everything to be really bright.

Just try it out, it's a bit hard to explain.

It's useful because it means marines no longer can hide in the dark cos the glow!

It also helps immensely at aiming with the bite attacks.

Oh really? I was needing a bit of help in that department! (I am immensly useless at keeping track of where my enemies are in melee combat&#33

I very rarely see really dark places(as in I need something to help see stuff)...and even more rarely I see marines trying to hide... in other words I find this ability pretty useless...and it would be much better with my proposed "radar sight"....but the devs. are not likely to change this probably
